Starting on an S day?

Post by metsgirl » Sat Jun 03, 2006 2:53 am

Hello everyone!

After gaining back the 40 lbs I worked so hard to lose over the last 2 years, I'm at an all-time low for motivation. I've spent the last 2 months re-reading all my diet books, and none of them have sparked my motivation...I just can't do it all over and be deprived. So, I'm turning to the NoS diet. It seems like exactly what I need.

Question is, should I start on a Saturday? Do I wait until Monday? Does it matter (if Saturday is really like any other of my current/normal days)?

One question about S days: Does it really mean I can have sweets, and seconds and snacks??? Seems like allot..

Welcome!
I'm sorry about your current down feelings..
I was there too before I started here...
I had lost about 60 lbs over two years doing various extreme diet/exercise things which, while they did help me in the short run, didn't change my habits at all.. About fifty pounds came back on in one really bad year for me just about 3 years later when my guard was down and my activty ceased...
When I found Reinhard's Google ad which directed me to his homepage, not to sound cliched, but I truly was at an all time low and he was a total Godsend for me..
This plan works! Be patient and diligent...

There are no tricks to success here except "Stick-to-it-ness"

You can start on any day you like and just do your best!
Good luck!!!
I am sure you will love NoS!

Peace and Love,
8) Deb

ps.. As for rules on S days... It's best to just figure out what works for you..
I don't personally like to restrict them, but obviously if I really overeat, my body normally doesn't thank me for it, so it's usually controlled to some extent by negative feedback...
Mainly, S days should be a reward and a steam valve for all the hard work you do on N days...

Enjoy!

Thanks Deb...I really do feel hopeful. I've been reading testimonials..it really sounds like a sane way to live.

I'm starting my own daily check-in thread today!

Thanks

Welcome, metsgirl.

Sorry for the delayed response... I guess this is a moot point now, but start whenever you feel suffiently energized. There are pros and cons to any day. Starting on a Monday might appeal to the ambitious -- they need a reasonable big goal to work up inspiration. Later during the week might be better for those who are less sure of themselves -- a more attainable goal. Starting on a weekend gives you some reward on credit for any potential resentment to chew on during the week.

As for s-days, officially everything is permitted, and I would recommend trying that first because it's great if it works (it's what I do). Preemptively rewarding yourself with something especially nice helps keep opportunistic/automatic eating in check. As a fallback tactic, some people here find that limiting themselves to a single sweet/snack/second per S-day is all the freedom they can handle.

Best of luck, and looking forward to reading your check-in,

Reinhard
