Hey Donna :)
Hippie Deb here!

LOL..

Well, I would simply suggest investigating into just how much whole food you have in your diet.
I strongly urge you to totally stay away from any appetite suppressants, for two reasons..
The first is that it will never help you long term, to rely on something to suppress your appetite for you, and it's just putting the responsibility on the pill or "magical substance" intead of embracing the task yourself to find a way of eating which is satisfying and healthy.
Trust me.. You will feel so much better about yourself if you attempt this yourself, and fail as many times as you need till you finally succeed..

Suppressants are just part and parcel of the whole "quick fix" mentality..
I would like to encourage you to ditch all thinking related to quick fixes..

The other reason is: What if you find something that "miraculously fixed your appetite" and then two years from now, you can't get it anywhere..
What will you do then? Better just not to start with any of that..

Sorry if this is a very blunt answer but I myself have tried these things in the past, and including the stimulant kinds, and as soon as I ended the use of them, I found myself only two years later on a eating/gaining trend which ultimately had me gain every last pound back which I had lost in the quick fix way, and more depressed about my health than at any time in my life..
Thank God that NoS has brought back sanity and health in a form which is long term (yes quite slow) but reliable and pleasant~

Personally when I am hungry, I feel it's a combination of a few things.
Hunger for me, which is really non stop, usually means that I am not eating sufficient meals, with enough healthy sources of protein and fruits and vegetables... I would really suggest eating some big salad with at least one of your meals. Also include fats in your diet, as they are satisfying too..

Unexplained hunger can also be dehydration in disguise..
Our body thinks to satisfy this need for water, by craving something like a piece of pie... Try to get healthy good tasting water..

Also, I have heard that pectin is some kind of filling suppliment you can get at a health food store, but I really don't have any experience with it, as innocuous as it is, I would still just recomment investigating into how balanced and sufficient your meals and water intake is...

Well good luck Donna!
Peace and Love,

Yea, definitely, I'd have to say that if you need appetite suppressants, you might want to look into other areas... such as whether you might not be better served lowering your portions more slowly.

Hi Donna

You could try looking at the Shangri La Diet - this is a plan which has been devised by a Professor called Seth Roberts where you use Extra Light Olive Oil as an appetite suppressor. You could use it in conjuction with No S. I think a few No Sers use this - may one of them could give you a little more information - or you could try google. I've had a look on the website and lots of people swear it works - and at least its natural and quite healthy.

One more thing Donna which I thought I'd mention..
There really is a huge difference between hunger and appetite..
Often, appetite is just an impulse to have something, and normally, if you take away the stimulus which put that idea in your head to begin with, it may pass just as quickly as it came.
Real hunger is something to listen to though... Again, if you are truly hungry, not just in the mood to eat, then maybe you aren't eating enough..
PS.. The last time I was 135, I was 15 years old.. I can't imagine how that would look on me now!!!!! Whoa!!!!
Well I'll be satisfied to get into the 190's for this year :)

Thought I'd toss my two cents in. :-) The commercial promises to curb appetite, boost metabolism and energy. I don't know about all that, but I really like the Dexatrim Max 2O. The box indicated you should use two tablets per bottle of water, I use one in a bottle in the morning with breakfast and one in a bottle with lunch. It does contain caffeine, but it's tasty and it's gotten me off coffee. Coffee's not inherantly bad, but I like it with lots of sugar and cream, and I like it so well, I drink more than I should. I prefer the mixed berry flavor at room temperature and the lemon splash flavor cold. It's got plenty of green tea in it, so maybe that's what keeps the appetite at bay. Good luck!

Donna,

For me these things tend to help:

-eating whole foods (as Deb mentioned already) instead of more processed foods ex. grainy dark breads instead of super refined white breads
-lots of fruits and veggies (because of high water and/or fiber content)
-drinking lots of liquids especially water and I also really enjoy tea
-eating warm/hot foods instead of cold foods (this really helps my feeling of fullness actually, soup is a great example of this for me)
-eating spicy foods, I read somewhere that spicy foods tend to blunt the appetite as well as making you burn more calories when you eat a spicy meal vs. a non-spicy one.
-moderate exercise (especially walking) for me tends to help me control my appetite, I like walking because it doesn't make me hungrier which used to be a problem for me with more high-intensity exercise like running.

Hope this helps, I wish you all the best and please feel free to use me/us for support!!
