Non-scale Victories & Motivations for Weight Loss

Post by Sammybunny711 » Wed Jul 16, 2025 1:01 pm

Hi, everyone!

I feel like when we're losing weight (or attempting to), we often try and only gauge progress with the scale. What are some of your favorite non-scale victories you have achieved in your journey? Or, if you haven't achieved any NSVs yet, what do you HOPE to achieve?

For me:
- not having a protruding belly
- being able to cross my legs more comfortably
- lowering my cholesterol
- feeling like I look cute in my clothing
- Fitting in my favorite lemon-colored dress again (which I'll have to lose about 45 pounds to achieve)
- being a good example of a healthy-lifestyle for my daughter

For me it was

Fitting in a pair Levi's that had been in the wardrobe for an age
Getting my shapely ankles back
Buying clothes and feeling good in them
Throwing or donating clothes that were too big away
Liking myself in photos

Still hoping to lower my HbA1c but until March I had maintained it.

Great thread

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

Your motivations are really good!
We recently went on vacation to Portugal, and I was wearing my favorite skirt when I noticed that my inner thighs were rubbing together, to the point where it got uncomfortable.
I also noticed that my belly gets in the way when I'm driving, and my clothes are starting to feel tighter.

So my motivations are:

-not having a protruding belly
-no rubbing inner thighs
-feeling good buying clothes
-feeling good when taking photos
-getting stronger
-getting rid of the foodnoise (no-S was a tremendous help in the past)
SW: 65.8 kg CW: 64.6 kg - GW: 59.9 kg

Oooo these are really good! I, too, have rubbing inner thighs, so I just wear pants or bicycle shorts EVERY DAY. I would love to one day NOT have this problem.
