Listen to this!!

Post by Jaxhil » Sun Sep 30, 2007 4:34 am

I just had to check in and tell everyone about someone I met today. I was shopping at wally world and I met a woman who worked there. She was helping me with the bikes. She was very patient as I was trying to decide which bike to get.

Anyway, I mentioned I wanted a fun way to workout and that I was trying to lose some weight. And she said, "I've lost 134 pounds"... So (naturally ) the first thing I asked (after I picked my jaw up off the floor!) was how she did it. She said *everyone* asks her how she did it (surprise!)

Her answer? " I eat 3 meals a day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner..nothing else!"

:o

WOW! I thought that was so cool, to meet someone in real life who is succeeding at NoS in such a big way. She doesn't restrict what she eats at meals-she said she was having McD's for lunch, lol. She did say she doesn't do soda anymore, and I got the impression no sugar. I also think she doesn't take S-days (yikes!!)

I was floored.

I mean I *knew* No-S was the way to go, but I had NO idea it could be this effective-the only exercise she gets is working at Walmart. She said its taken her a year to do this. WOW. I was SOOOO impressed!! She said she started at THREE HUNDRED and sixty-eight pounds. This woman has inspired me-a real live person who has persevered and lost over a hundred pounds (and counting).

I was so happy for her, and completely impressed at her level of commitment. I soooooo want to do this!! It really brings it home that this DOES work -if you can just DO it: get those habits in place, and STICK to it.

Anyway, isn't that cool? Just reinforces what we all know.

No-S is Best!! (thanks, Reinhard!!) 8)

That is a way awesome story!

I have a hybrid bike and I pull the 2 kiddos in a trailer, which I think has greatly improved my overall fitness level. Now, a run (including lots of hills) is a total piece o'cake.
I love my bike (it's a Giant Sedona).

That is very inspiring! I only wish she'd gotten the idea from nosdiet.com, that would have made a great testimonial!

In some ways what she does is more hard core than no-s, but in other ways not really (from what you've described). There may not be S-days, but I didn't hear anything about limiting seconds, and besides the soda, it's unclear whether she's abstaining sugar (kind of a biggie, seems like that would be something worth mentioning). I don't suppose there's any chance you could bug her for further details? :-)

It doesn't really surprise me that someone could lose that much weight on (essentially) no-s. It's basically just a reversion to pre-obesity epidemic behaviors (limited meals vs. permasnacking), which should, logically, bring us back to pre-obesity epidemic size.

It confirms the importance of two things: the "no snacks" rule and patience. The power of moderate behavior is like that of compound interest -- time is your friend.

It *is* inspiring, right?

You know, I was thinking of going back and asking her some more questions, and giving her the link to NoS so she could tell her story in her own words.

I hope she doesn't think I'm a diet stalker, LOL!! I can't help it though, I want to know all the details too

I agree! And it just makes me all the more determined to succeed 8)

I'm going to try to track her down again, and see if I can get some more details :P

Tiffani, your bike sounds great! Where did you get your trailer? That's the only way I could go riding with the kids, if Gracie was in tow, lol.

HA! Diet stalker. Everyone at work is one of those, or is it the food police? Anyway, I'm sure she wouldn't mind. If I lost that much weight, I could talk about it all the time!

Did you ever get a chance to go back and ask her about the details?
