Help with S days

Post by gymbo » Sun Feb 01, 2009 1:44 am

Hello to all. New to the noS, got through my first week and did well, no slips. Now Saturday is here and just feeling a little wierd about it.
Actually felt guilty eating an apple for a snack this morning. Went to a buffet for lunch and I only ate my one plate. Kind of forced myself to have some cobbler for dessert (didn't really want it but felt I should just because I could). I could only eat a little less than half a small serving.
I know about the danger of using the scale but I was down 11 pounds as of this am (206 to 195) and the loss excites me to not mess up.
I guess I just need to know if these feelings are normal. We all so want to feel normal.......................God Spede............gymbo

I think, especially for those of us who are veterans of a lot of dieting, it's very normal to feel weird and guilty about S days at first.

Congratulations on a great start!

Down 11 pounds!! That's wonderful! WAY TO GO!!!
I am a 2 week veteran of the diet so I can't offer you any wisdom from years of practicing this eating habit. I can, however, assure you that I feel the same way!!

My first S weekend was a 'gone wild' one (have you listened to the Pod caste on this site? If not, you should. It's really good!). I did gain some of the weight I had lost during the week back again. However, during my second N week the weight came right back off and it stayed off through this second S weekend. I did eat sweets on the second weekend and I did have some snacks but it was no where near the crazy weekend I had the first time.

I'm struggling with enjoying the S weekends also because I'm afraid of losing my hard work from the week...but I'm trying to be patient with myself as I learn new habits and what will and will not work for me. I'm down 6 pounds in 2 weeks and I'm actually relieved that it's Monday and back to the N days...

Thanx for the replies. I was feeling better about relaxing on Sunday. I really went all out and had a small Blizard at DQ and a small bowl of air popped corn last night. Was just up a pound to 196 this am.
Feeling more secure being back on noS this morning.........kewl beans

Hey Gymbo - I had expressed some S day concerns in a earlier message on Mrs. H string. This is the response that was provided to me and I found it helpful so I'm attaching for you.

----------------------------
see below:

have just completed my 21 days (done this a few times and got lost in the land of tweaking) and I have weighed daily to give myself an idea of the fluctuations in weight that can occur. I have enjoyed my S days and a couple were loaded with sugary snacks and my N days have been 100% on plan.

Over all as of today I have lost 2.6kg (5.73lb). However that is not a slow and steady downward slope. I am posting my daily weights (in pounds) to show you how things have fluctuated on a daily basis, but the trend is downwards.

Build the habit and this will work for you. Yes, you will probably show a gain on a Monday, but by Wednesday you are likely to be down again.

Gymbo,

Congratulations on your impressive start!

You're not alone in your anxiety about S-days. It's funny because on the surface S-days are the most fun and appealing thing about no-s, but people have posted so much about their fear of and guilt at overdoing it that I did a podcast on the subject a few months ago.

Belser, thanks for the stats! (and congratulations)

Reinhard
