End of week 4 on nsd, and I seem to be stuck!

Post by hayleyj » Sat Nov 28, 2009 3:37 pm

so... its the end of week 4... hurrah! :D
its the first week that i've had no red days on the calendar, but funnily enough, I've not lost any weight, not even a lb. I seem to have been stuck at 15st 7lbs for 2 weeks now.
Its not so bad though, as I was 15st 12lbs when I started and it doesnt look like I'm putting any weight back on! :)
It has made me wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
Maybe I should cut back on calorie filed drinks like juice or coffee, or cut my portions down (which runs the risk of me being hungry)...?
Has anyone else had this happen?

I wouldn't have calorie filled drinks in between at all, I'd be sure to eat slowly and I'd get smaller plates.
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me

I wouldn't drink the calorie filled drinks, either. As for your portions, you might try putting less on your plate. Try it, the worst thing is that you might get a little hungry. Remember -- THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING HUNGRY!

If this is the first week with no reds, my advice would be to really work on getting to "no reds" and give it another month. Those reds can make a real difference.

Another reason to give it time is to allow any weight loss to show up. For me, weight loss has never been linear (whatever program I'm following). I hold to the program and see nothing, nothing, nothing... then a sudden bump down, far more than is reasonable that week. Lather, rinse, repeat. The trick is not to give up during that "nothing" stage, no matter how discouraging it feels!

IF (IF IF IF) after one month of no reds you still aren't losing, then you will need to look more closely at what you're putting on your plate and drinking during the day. But focus on getting "all greens" first.

Best of luck! (And congrats on your weight loss to date).

I agree with KCCC... try to have less red days and do exercise as well..
But besides that, at this time of year, not gaining is a kind of success of it's own. Be happy for that!
Keep at it :)

thanks for the replies! :)
Yeah, I am aiming to continue having weeks with no reds - the strange thing is, I lost weight during the weeks when I had red days, but lost none in the 1st week ive managed to get all greens! :D
If I keep at it, then the new habits that im putting in place will pay off.
Im wondering if low calorie squash may be a good idea if i find i really want to drink something that tastes of something....
Swapping half of what in my meals for fruit, veg, soup or salad should help too, I hope.
I feel pretty happy, even if i havnt lost anything, because at least Im sticking to my guns and Im not putting anything on! :)

I'd skip the squash. It may be 'low cal' but it's filled with nasty stuff, and continues the habit of having sweet tasting things, and between meal 'treats'

I also agree with the person who said there is nothing wrong with being hungry. As long as you're not getting ill from it.

I gained a bit at first, then dropped for two weeks, then my weight was stable for another couple of weeks, then started to drop again. Now I try not to get hung up on what I weigh and just stick to developing the good habits.
