Yes, indeed! We call it "Remembrance Day" here in Canada, but the sentiment is the same.

(Actually, I take it that the two aspects of Remembrance Day, here, namely remembering the fallen and thanking them (and the living) for their service, are sort of split into two days in the U.S. -- Memorial Day and Veteran's Day, respectively. Have I got that right?)

I called Nicest Husband's grandfather to wish him a happy Veteran's Day. He's 90, a veteran of World War II, and fought at D-Day. He had a great 90th birthday party this summer. His two children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren were all able to visit for it.
