a little competition?

Post by oolala53 » Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:59 am

Okay, I got a bug to organize my videos while my rice finished cooking before dinner. I reported this on my check-in but I'll repeat it here to see if anyone else can top this idiocy. I have fewer than 10 actual movies but I of fitness videos I have 23 DVD's and 28 videocassettes. (I also have Debbie Siebers' Slim in 6 checked out from the library and I just ordered a used copy of a book of 10-minute workouts from Amazon.)

In my defense, I decided I was only going to commit to 10 minutes a day for the month of April and 14 minutes on weekdays thereafter. Most of the workouts are much longer and don't break up into shorter segments very easily. And I got most of them at budget stores and yard sales.

I also have gone through phases where I did use a lot of them quite consistently and actually do have fun with them. Which is why I'm not planning to give them up soon! I may get inspired! and with my work, it's hard to fit in functional walking, so I might use them instead of walking at times. My videocassette player is out on my deck so I could use those outside.

Wow. So, you would be the one to ask this question of. I have none of these dvds or videos. I would like to start some resistance workouts...for arms and legs. Not looking for aerobic exercise as I walk. What dvd would you recommend for this? I do have some 5 pound hand weights.

I don't know if the 5-lb. weights will be big enough for the bicep work, but the DVD I Want That Body by TamiLee Webb has 2 mostly bodyweight workout, both about 15 minutes, that I use moves from often. When I was using it consistently a few years ago, some people noticed. However, I just like to mix it up even more. If I were going to recommend one, that would be it.

Eventually, you'd need to go lower into the squats and lunges to get enough stress on the muscle. You can hold both weights in one hand if you have to for biceps. It should be hard to do those last reps.

The version I have has upper and lower body in one workout. I've seen a version with the same name that has separate workouts for arms/abs/ buns, two for each area. Don't know why. Though if you are going to do it every day, it might be better to rotate anyway.

I refuse to count my fitness DVDs because DH may find out what the total is (although I suppose he is free to count them himself at any time), but the last time I counted, the number was 106.

I estimate that the dresser they are in will hold 150 DVD cases. Once I get beyond that, it will be time to start decluttering. Until then, I can think of worse things to collect. 8)
