Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. This is a 1887 manual for Indian Club exercises - at the very bottom it lists some exercises for a "heavy club used with two hands":

Remarkable. These are just like the hindu pushups and squats that Matt Furey suggests. Faster than I thought, though!
