sledgehammer walking

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

Just saw this... Looks like a fun challenge. I'll give it a try tonight, though I'm not optimistic I'll succeed: he's using an 8 pounder and my lightest is a 12.

Needs a better name. "Walking" doesn't suggest hands and fingers...

Thanks for the link!

I had my 10#er in the house, the 8# is out in the garage and I didn't feel like getting it (cold and rainy outside).

I wasn't able to do the 2-handed version, the one at the beginning of the video.

I had better luck with the one-handed version starting at 0:38. I was able to go all the up to the hammer head, but not back down.

Cool exercise!

I'm also looking into getting an old truck tire to beat... good aggression release. LOL. Lots have talked about sledgehammer training with tires, like in this video.

Just noticed this workout, too.

Check out the first 'arm' movement......perfect for shovelgloving.
The 2nd movement is just hitting the sledge against the ground. I really like the first movement for the arms, though.

Will have to try it out late today.
