NPR had a good story on Morning Edition this morning about the benefits of
moderate exercise.
There's solid evidence that aerobic fitness ups the odds of living longer. Research suggests that just 30 minutes a day, five days a week can keep you fit...And raising your heart rate isn't as hard as you might think.

Thanks for posting this, pirateman. As a newbie I need all the motivation I can get.

Thanks for the quote. It's no surprise to me, since I've been experiencing the benefits of moderate exercise (and walking in particular) for almost a decade now, but it's so much more impressive to hear it from NPR.

I still think its kind of funny how much better I always feel during an after a walk. i like running sometimes, but walking doesnt beat me up.
two wrongs don't make a right.
But three lefts do.
