Podcast segment #13: Strictness
Podcast segment #13: Strictness
Strictness builds habit faster. Dumb down what to be strict about with "fence around the law." Avoid punishment and reparations.

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for letting me know.
I just added it to the "scripts" section.

I need to clean these up at some point... they're not even spell checked. And they don't correspond 100% to what I say.

Thank you SO much.
The three big points are all good... the first time through, the "no punishment" section really spoke to me - was about the time I was posting my "reflections on failure" thread.
The second time I listened, the bit about "big picture good enough vs. little picture perfection" struck home.
Both of these principles are useful for more than No-S. I think you've started the "recovering from perfectionism" system I asked for (as an OT comment in another thread).
Though some things are really "collections of systems" - housekeeping and perfectionism both fall into those categories for me.
Again, thanks.

Strict = Discipline = Success
This single post covers such an important concept.
Needless to say; Reinhard accomplishes to add a lot of value in all his efforts, but this particularly brilliant observation should be absorbed into your fiber as soon as possible.
Strictness is (at least in my experience) a catalyst for any and all my success.
GREAT STUFF Reinhard. GREAT STUFF. - very common sense.
-I WISH I had more common sense myself.[/i]

FrugalTexan, you can also find them on iTunes if you use it. I listen to them while I'm cleaning house sometimes to re-inspire myself.frugaltexan wrote:Where would I find all the podcasts? Are they down loadable (i.e. listen on an iPod, etc?)

My blog https://noelfigart.com/wordpress/ I talk about being a freelance writer, working out and cooking mostly. The language is not always drawing room fashion. Just sayin'.

I'm glad this topic is still open for discussion. I just finished Episode 13 and found it quite profound. I'm about to listen to it for the third time, but I wanted to post about how much it speaks to me. Also I got much more out of listening to the podcast than from reading the script. Reinhard, I know you don't do podcasts anymore; I'm sure that's best for you and your family, but it's a shame for the rest of us! It's nice to know I'm not alone in my constant, desperate quest for perfection, or the self-loathing that usually follows every failure. "Failure" really is awfully strong for me still, so I'll call them Bumps in the Road, to avoid or pass over carefully, along with occasional Stop Lights, where I must stop, reassess, and proceed in the right direction in a safe manner. The principles in this one episode apply to every area of life. When someone asks questions about No-S, I'll ask them to listen to #13.
Love this one!
This is very helpful, thanks! I think I need to read it every day for a while......getting up and dusting off......
