Rawruth Daily Check in! One month yellow-green No S goal

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Rawruth Daily Check in! One month yellow-green No S goal

Post by rawruth » Thu Sep 18, 2014 4:09 am

Today was a FAILURE.

My first day keeping track on this attempt at a one-month streak. So I'm starting my one-month goal over tomorrow. Didn't feel too good. Didn't eat enough lunch so got hungry and had an afternoon snack, and then was less hungry for dinner. At dinner the first thing I got didn't taste good, so I went to get something else and that turned into a third something else, all while I was reasoning that these would fit on my plate, and then I got some fruits to finish it off - probably about 2 plates.

I did breakfast and lunch right, and no sugar the whole day, but the snacks and dinner were a failure.

Lessons learned:
1. At the start, eat enough at meals so that I don't feel tempted to snack.
and
2. No matter what, snacking is never worth it!

Lessons learnt are powerful as well and I completely agree with your 1st lesson. I couldn't have done it without over-generosity on my plates in the first month.

Good tips to keep in mind! We are doing a September month check in on the "No S Diet General Discussion" forum. Feel free to join with us - it's never too late.

As for the fail - mark it and move on. You'll be back on track in no time! Good luck!
