Swarah's daily check in (mk II)

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Day 3

Post by Swarah » Thu Nov 06, 2014 10:33 am

Breakfast: fruit and fibre cereal with a banana mixed in, eaten comedically slowly (I'm training myself to stop bolting my food, a habit which I got into after having my first child 28 years ago and finding myself too busy to eat slowly)
Lunch: ham and salad sandwich, packet crisps, cup-a-soup (the standard lunch when I go to my mum's house)
Dinner: roast chicken, carrots, green beans, roast potatoes, stuffing, gravy

Day 6 - Sunday

Post by Swarah » Mon Nov 10, 2014 4:04 pm

Getting bored with logging my meals so I'm going to post successes and failures (though I'm not keep on that particular f-word). Anyhoo, Sunday was ok, with 3 structured meals and a few snacky bits and bobs.

Day 7 - Monday

Post by Swarah » Mon Nov 10, 2014 4:08 pm

I've eaten more fruit and veg today than usual - it's just what I fancied. It's now 4pm and I'm pretty hungry. This is the point I'd usually be reaching for a junk food fix but I've decided to embrace my hunger and use it to motivate me to cook a really nice dinner.

Oh bum - after all that, I ate a carrot cupcake and some toast in the evening after dinner. What I am NOT going to do is use this as an excuse to overeat tomorrow, however.

12th and 13th Nov - days 9/10

2 successes in a row - particularly pleased about yesterday as I work late on a Wednesday and usually come home and eat whatever I can get my hands on.
