Yep I'm starting Wednesday 27th April 2016 uk time. I'm still reading a psyching myself up ready for tomorrow No S diet
Hi everyone
Today I start my 3 week challenge. That's what I've decided I'll do.
I've been reading and thinking about how I eat, what I eat, when I eat and and why I eat what I do. My eating is so disordered that I don't really know what's me and what I've learnt along the way through diets and healthy eating regimes.
What is me now is that I don't really snack much but I do eat some dark chocolate in the evening watching tv. I will also have a Danish or an almond croissant with coffee sometimes. Oh and I'm a bit of a picker, especially cheese and crackers
I do have seconds, especially with my evening meal
As I've already said my sweets are the nightly chocolate and the occasional cake or digestive biscuit.
I do get into a mess with the times I eat - being retired 😀 I tend to eat breakfast late 11 am, after walking our dog. Then I don't eat lunch til about 4 or 5pm and this will usually be picking at cheese and crackers or soup. Then we eat our evening meal at about 7 or 8 pm and because I've eaten lunch so late I'm not always hungry but I eat it anyway as for me it's my favourite meal of the day - then I might have some chocolate and some wine and spend the evening feeling full and sometimes, go to bed feeling full and uncomfortable and occasionally get acid indigestion.
So, what do you think of this? I think I need to change my habits around eating. Has anyone got any advice or suggestions?

Day two's eating: breakfast oatmeal, berries, seeds and yoghurt and milk. - my dad would have called this bird food!
Lunch - went a bit haywire as we got a desperate call from my sister in law who lost her husband a few years ago telling us she was in a bad way, shape we went to see her and lunch was a 2 coffee - SIL and my husband had coffee and cake - I virtuously said I didn't want any but SIL insisted I shared some of hers and it was easier to give in than keep resisting - so I had a quarter of a flapjack with chocolate top.
We got home at 5 and I had a lingering sweet taste in my mouth. I had a cup of leek and potato soup, then we went to the pub for a meal. (This is something I do- I eat lunch too late then an hour or so later I have my dinner) I had gammon, egg and chips - and a glass of wine, then another one at home.
So, on the whole it wasn't too bad a day. I felt guilty eating the cake but I couldn't see a way out without upsetting people. Wine is OK isn't it??

A good first three days! Well done! Sometimes you do have to just have the cake in situations like that - then move on. You will always know whether it was socially necessary to eat a bit of cake, or an excuse to eat cake
Enjoy your S weekend.

Yesterday was a S day and I had crisps and chocolate with 2 glasses of wine - didn't feel guilty or like I was going to go and eat more. I know how I can eat/ gobble crisps down - they're addictive to me
Today we've got Sunday dinner with my step daughter and family - it's an S day too, I'll try not to go mad on the pudding.

Looking up, Nell.
How odd this thing about people 'insisting' that we share.
Does happen, though, don't it.
Personally, I have an alcohol quota.
Feel perfectly comfortable with it eating-wise.
To me, its main role is to make sure I stick to the straight and narrow drinking-wise.
Used to have only beer, was no issue.
But ever since started with wine, more attracted to repeats at times.
Keep up the good work.

Hi All
Sunday was an S day and did OK: cake at my brothers house - it tasted too sweet
Then roast dinner at my step daughters- apple strudel and cream for dessert then 2 wines and chocolate to follow ........ Not good, not too bad.....
I made up for it today as I was out all day and kept to No S easily
Onwards and onwards
jackn I try to keep to a glass ceiling with wine, I like it but I drink it quick. I've a low tolerance and don't like the hangover or the bad headache. Too many people in my family have been destroyed by alcohol - my aunt, a cousin and my grandad and my ex husband.

It's my 8th day today !!! This is longer than I've stuck with the many diets and healthy eating plans I've tried in the past year or so
Yesterday all fine,
Today I'm going to see my mum and have got my eating planned out - I'm going to gets nice tasty sandwich and a good strong flat white coffee afterwards - no cakes to tamp down my worries.

Very true Jackn. 😀 That's why us Brits always talk about the weather 😀
Another green day - almost 2 weeks in and I'm doing fine - although feeling fat and frustrated with being fat - but I know if I embark on a diet it won't last more than a few days anyway, so it's telling myself to hang on in there as this is about habit change and long term change
How do I get my text in green?

Hi still here - I've been away on a three day course. -delicious meals were included, home cooked and healthy. I kept to my 3 meals and no snacks, or seconds but NOT to the no sweets, as delicious homemade cakes after lunch were included and it would have been difficult to refuse.
I'm home now and back on my no S 😀

I missed checking in Friday and Saturday
Still doing good 😀😀 it's almost a month and I'm feeling like No S is becoming a habit, eg friday night my hubby offered my chocolate - which I used to eat every night but I've decided is only for S days and, tempting as it is, I refused it - easy! I can look forward to having a chocolate on my S days - if I want it

Hi I've been away in the motorhome for 3 days in the Cotswolds -it's a beautiful part of England. I kept to my No S 😀😀
Tonight good but we had steak and salad for dinner and I took a 2nd helping of salad then remembered halfway through eating it that this isn't what I do anymore ...... I must remember this and be more aware of what I'm doing 😀

hey, great for keeping to noS on vacations!
i took on a 21day challenge early on in the noS diet exactly for the reason of actually forgetting about it until halfway into the snack... challenge helped me focus... had to trick myself...

Great! I've recently been questioning whether I even want/need chocolate on my S days - it's been a regular thing for the past year: chocolate, crisps, ice-cream, shortbread!
I'm sorry I missed your birthday - there are so many threads on this forum it can be easy to lose track of people! Looks like you're in it for the long-haul - me too It's just the sanest way of eating isn't it? Love it!

I've not been on here for a few days as I'm changing my iPhone and iPad so I've been "off the air" while I'm doing the changeover
No s is going well. - it's probably partly why I've not been on here checking in as it's just becoming the way I eat.
Yesterday we went to a 21st birthday party. I remembered what someone on here said about applying the no s rules to every situation eg parties holidays etc to ensure it becomes a proper habit - I did this - even though it was an S day I didn't eat any birthday cake or sweets and pudding because I didn't want any. Although I did go into a slight panic mode when I got home where I was tempted to raid the fridge and then I realised what I was doing and why, so didn't do it

Well done for stopping yourself from mindless munching after the party! That's huge! You said you didn't want the cake and stuff at the party - I wonder if some part of your brain still 'felt' deprived, then wanted to have a tantrum when you got home (where no-one can see you)? Anyway - you kept control Good luck for a green week.

Hi Still here and still doing my No S vanilla - it must be 2 months at a quick calculation.
We've had 3 lots of visitors staying in 7 days including my sister over from Spain to see mum in her nursing home - so I was spending quite a bit of time with her last week. Also, sadly, my aunt 89 died last Thursday - she played a big part in our lives especially when we were kids - she was like our 2nd mother. She had dementia and was in very poor health. The funeral is in 2 weeks and my relatives will be coming over from N Ireland. So we'll have a party or a wake!

Hi everyone. I'm still doing vanilla No S. I think it's two months now!! 😀😀
A Slight blip today, as we went out for lunch with some friends back from 2 months in their holiday home in Malta and everyone ordered a sweet...... And so did I ...... Why?
Oh well, I'll move on - tomorrow's another day. Or should I call it a special day as I haven't seen our friends for so long??

I would call it a special day personally. If you got together with the same friends often, then probably not (or if you already had other special days this month)--but this was a special occasion. Hope you had fun! Congrats on 2 months!Nell12 wrote:Hi everyone. I'm still doing vanilla No S. I think it's two months now!! 😀😀

It's been a slightly tricky few days - I've had a 3 day headache that I feel nauseous with - I'm sure it's because I'm stressed and upset by the result of the EU referendum in the UK and the resulting political situation !! 😩😩
Then I made the mistake of weighing myself and i was the same as I started two months ago, so I lurched off into a mini despondency. But I kept doing my vanilla No S and told myself that it's important to change my disordered eating habits and make long term changes. Today I weighed myself again and I was about 3 lb less - so it IS working in terms of weigh loss, as well as habit changes

Glad you are seeing some loss overall. Those plateau times are hard. Sometimes I remind myself that before No-S, I was gaining slowly and steadily all the time--so even a plateau is more successful than my pre-No-S days.Nell12 wrote: Then I made the mistake of weighing myself and i was the same as I started two months ago, so I lurched off into a mini despondency. And I certainly understand about upset over political situations!
