Lena's Daily Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Lena's Daily Check In

Post by Lady Lena » Sat Jan 19, 2008 11:49 pm

Hi, I started on this site back in 2005. Somewhere I lost the focus. I was allowing the hype from other programs to change my focus and increase the confusion. Programs like: Weigh down diet, 3 hour diet, Somersizing, schwarzbein principle, etc. Now I am back and I am ready to remain on course with this one focus. No S. I also preordered the book. So I am looking forward to reading it.

Today is an S day. I made my decision this evening. So I technically will begin tomorrow. Tonight I will refresh my memory on the guidelines for S days. See you tomorrow.

LL,

I tried some of the diets you mention, and many others. After the initial enthusiasm wore off, I got so bored with all of the calculations and planning necessary. You just can't beat this diet for simplicity...and it works! Also, you can incorporate many things from other diets into this one, if you really want to. Best of luck to you!

Thanks Lisa for the encouragement! I really appreciate it.

Today I did the plan. I did not eat breakfast. I was really bloated and full from a sweets binge from the previous day.

For lunch: I had a salad with chicken.
For dinner: I had a phillycheese with fries.

I was tempted to eat a candy bar with almonds that they were selling at work, but I stayed away. At dinner I almost had a coke, but I remembered had a unsweetened tea with splenda.

I didn't enjoy the tea, but I feel good about actually doing the plan and sticking with it. There is hope for tomorrow! :P :P
