Snazzybabe's Road to Health and slimness
Its the weekend so I'm not going to start until Monday. I'll be doing low-carb with some snacks on the weekends.
Just made about 10 mini pizzas for myself, the hubby and my two boys - 3yr old and 6 yr old. Very yummy pizzas, but very filling. Couldn't eat them all so I'll pop the remainder in the fridge. No doubt hubby will heat them up in the microwave for breakfast tomorrow.
Still have to buy that sledgehammer. Will have a look tomorrow.
Oh, I thought I should mention that my goal is to lose 22 pounds. I want to enjoy the beach this summer (in Australia Summer is from December to February) and every other summer without having to cover up in lose t-shirts.

Are you making those pizzas free-form, or do you have little pizza pans to use? I have never made mini-pizzas, only the full-size ones; that sounds like fun!
Of course, it is really hot here in the Midwest U.S. now, and I am doing everything I can to not turn on the oven. Mini pizzas would fit in a toaster oven which I could set out on the porch...what a neat idea!

I didn't make the pizza bases. I bought them from the grocery store. There was 10 to a pack. I then just add the toppings and then put in the oven. I sometimes make my own bases but the store bought ones are pretty good.Jan-Tz wrote:Are you making those pizzas free-form, or do you have little pizza pans to use? Its really cold here at the moment. Well not as cold as you get. We don't get snow here in Western Australia. But its cold enough to get all the big blankets out.

I guessed my weight the other day and I was very close. So instead of having 22 pounds to lose I have 24 pounds. I thought I would weigh myself so that I can see if I am making any progress. I will not weigh again for about a month. I'm one of those people whose mood is affected by the scales so I don't want to obsessively weigh everyday, as I have been known to.
I do want to see weight loss but more importantly I want to change my habit of snacking most nights while watching television. Also I want to see definition in my arms.

I've been eating well for 19 days now. Feeling really good. I'm not lethargic in the morning anymore. My starting weight was 151.8 pounds, and today I weigh 145.2. That's a 6.6 pound loss.
I'm doing low-carb so some of that is water.
It feels great to be in control of my eating. When I eat high-carb meals I just feel out of control and hungry all the time.
Anyway, better go and get dinner ready.

Still doing good. Have been a bit stressed out lately about son number 1. The good thing is I have stopped myself from turning to food for comfort.
My son is nearly 7 years old and a year ago was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. So the other day he was telling me that his muscles were really sore and it kind of depressed me because its worrying that he is getting worse. Most boys with Duchenne are in a wheel-chair by the time they are 10, sometimes later.
This has completely changed our family. We are trying to remain positive. Hopefully they will find a cure soon.
I try not to think about the Duchenne and just live life but sometimes its hard. Anyway, we all have hard lives. Just have to think positive and get on with it.

Wow, Snazz, that is really a challenge for your family, and I am so glad to see you are not overeating from it at this point. It only adds a negative component to a very difficult situation, and you don't need that!
Yes, we all have our challenges. I am facing one now with my adult daughter, but am not eating over it. Infact, after reading your post, you made me become aware of that fact. That I no longer need to eat over life's struggles.....food has become food.
You're doing great, Snazzybabe. A real inspiration, and my prayers are with you.

Snazzy, my heart goes out to you and your son. I had a friend in college with MD. She did much better than she or her parents had been told to expect from her diagnosis, but it was still very tough for her. We used to go out "dancing" together although she was in a wheelchair! My prayers for you and your family.

Dear Snazzy, I'm sorry that you are worried... You have a lot to think about...
Good attitude is key here... Sounds like you have one already....
I'm sorry your son is feeling so drained and sore... Can you get him massage? At least he might be more comfortable...
Also, remember that the human Spirit has no limit, no physical limitations..
And that is the most precious part of every one of us...
Just keep feeding that Spirit loads of Love!!!!!
There are mysterious and Divine reasons for everything that happens to us....
Listen to Besty's advice... Life doesn't have to end, with a diagnosis...
God will help your family...
Good luck!
Peace and Love,
Deb
