Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Marf check in

This is my first day - I know the basics of what I am to do, and not do, but I don't understand the Everyday Systems part yet. I'm thinking that this is the place I will record my food plan for the day, and on a daily basis.
Breakfast oatmeal with artificial sweetener I know that real sugar is recommended, but I resisted that this morning, and I will work on it.
Lunch plum tomatoes, 2 hot dogs, 2 buns, relish & mustard I had to virtual plate this - someone came in with the plum tomatoes and wanted me to try them, and I did out of politeness but included that as part of my meal. The plum tomatoes didn't hit the plate, but there would have been room for them with the two hot dogs, keeping it to one layer of food.
Dinner I am thinking about adding the 3:00 p.m. Secret to the NoS diet - that would meal I'll have dinner about 3 p.m. If I do follow through with that plan, my dinner will be 2 hot dogs, 2 buns, and a sliced cucumber. If I don't do that 3 p.m. thing, then I will post the dinner I actually had later.
I have had orange juice today as a beverage. I appreciate that is an ok thing to have, and for me it is a bridge away from the hard stuff - sweets.
