Oranje's Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Oranje's Check In

Post by Oranje » Sun Dec 28, 2008 9:09 pm

Day One

Okay this is actually an S Day, so the ball really gets rolling tomorrow.

I blew the dust off of some neat tupperwear I've had tucked away at the parent's house (home for christmas break) and since I was living by snacking almost 100 percent of the time before this, I'm going to be using them religiously to prepare my meals (they are plate sized with dividers. There is a full half circle section and the other half circle is split in two). It's a little strict, but I want this new meal habit to be OBVIOUS, ready to go, and to stick.

Welcome to the forum!

The Tupperware plan sounds like a great idea! Whatever helps you make this work is wonderful....and that sounds like a great plan to regulate your plates.

Have you read the "No S" book yet? I recommend it to everyone new here...it's a great resource and contains a lot of encouragement.

Don't be a stranger either...these boards are the best place to find some encouragement when you're struggling....and that's incredibly helpful on this journey.

Welcome again,
janie
