Daisy73's Daily Check-in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Welcome! Hopefully you have made it to lunchtime. :) It does take some getting used to. I have been trying to stop saying "I'm hungry" at random times of the day. It might be that instead of hunger, it's thirst or just something else. Or I'm bored and that's why I just want to eat! It gets easier to read your own signals as time goes on.

And if you find that your meals are a little too small - maybe add some toast to your breakfast? - you'll learn to make them a bit bigger so you can make it until the next one. And then you'll get so used to it you can reduce them a bit again if you need to!

Good luck!

Find it interesting that without in between meal snacking, I'm averaging 1500-1700 calories a day quite easily. I love that I'm creating a near 1000 calorie a day deficit without having to overthink it (or actually count those calories unless I feel like it).

Hey Daisy!

Nice going! Maybe try not to weigh yourself for a while and focus on the habit. I must admit, though I only weigh once a week, I still need to focus on the habit more!

I'm a believer (for me) in weighing daily or at least twice a week. I tend to gain if I don't because I let things slide.

On a side note....I was thinking...

No offense to the No-S program because it really is a catchy way to remember some very basic habits of naturally thin people but I don't want to get "too involved" in it. If I do, I'll feel like it is just another restriction.

Seems like from several posts that I have read that some people are making it complicated and/or harder than necessary. I kind of thought the beauty of this plan was focusing "less" on food.

JMHO, I'm not interested in starting a debate.

It's an open message board, and I think some people who use it are more "No S-ey" in their philosophy than others  I agree that being obsessed with food and dieting is counter-productive. Also, boring.

Very boring! I've focused on diets since 2000 and I'm bored AND still fat!
