Loaf's Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Loaf's Check In

Post by Loaf » Fri May 22, 2009 2:08 am

I wish I could have thought of a more original title, but my wit seems to have run dry.
Anyway, I am trying out shovel glove and the No S diet, and I'm going to run 2 miles on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I'm making this thread because I haven't been doing too well. I've been keeping up with the running, and I started shugging today, but the No S has been a massive failure for 3 straight days. Hell, I ate 5 freakin' meals today. Anyway, I'll start keeping the log for today.
I'll be editing this post every N Day for this month. In June, I'll post again and start a new list.

THURS MAY 21
No S: As I said above, I ate 5 meals.
ShovelGlove: I bought an 8-pound hammer today and went to town with it. I think I'm going to return it in favor of a heavier one on Saturday; it was too easy.
Running: Rest day.

FRY MAY 22
No S: Ate some fruit at a friend's house between lunch and dinner
ShovelGlove
Running: Didn't have a chance to do this. I'll do it tomorrow.

MON MAY 25
No S
ShovelGlove
Running

For my own convenience, I'll keep these down here for copying and pasting.
