sojo's check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

sojo's check in

Post by sojo » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:23 am

this is day 2, i just found this plan yesterday...it's something i've suspected for a while - i've often told myself i'd probably lose weight if i had 3 good meals, and that's it. i tend to have 4 smaller meals, plus snacks. so here it is in writing, with testimonials, and i love it because it doesn't feel like i diet at all.

so, day 1 was yesterday and i did great. the afternoon was tough...i made soup for our cousin who has a newborn, and we weren't secheduled to take it over till 7, so i allowd myself a small bowl when it was done at 5:30 (vegie barley soup). when we went to her house, i had seconds because the bowl was so tiny! so, i feel ok for a first day although i know i can't allow mods liek that if I'm going to succeed.

today was great, except i had a glass of milk at 4:30 because i was so hungry.

i started the couch to 5k program 5 weeks ago,a nd the simplicity of this goes along with ti. i'm goignt to add shovelglove soon for upper body strength.

welcome sojo. I did that couch to 5K program and really enjoyed it. Hope you do as well. NoS is the only way to eat (at least for me) that makes sense. Look forward to your posts

thank you Denice! I agree. it's not as easy as i thought it would be though!

day 3 wasn't perfect either...i was at trader joes and starving and still had to go to costco, so i got some sushi and ate it in the car, then had a hotdog at costco. they were within an hour of each other, and easily would have fit on a plate, so i considered it lunch altogether. this just points out how difficult it is to have a good, healthy, filling meal on the go. i knew if i just ate the sushi i would have been starving 2 hours later and never would have made it to dinner.

and just now, I had 3 gulps of keifer... what's up with drinks, do they count as a snack?

hmm, green day or red day, just not sure...
