Tobiasmom's Journey continues....
Hey, All. I have been around these No-S boards off and on for at least 5 years now. I seem to continue the same vicious cycle over and over......I get the No-S habit down and really enjoy the plan only to worry about the number on the scale and jump to some other plan I can't stick with. I probably weigh exactly the same as I did 5 years ago. If I would have stuck with No-S and lost even 1 pound a month...well, imagine where a little patience would get me?!
We are actually moving to Hawaii in a few short weeks! I want to just stop this obsessive diet hopping once and for all and enjoy this awesome life God has blessed me with!!!!
Here I am, World! Trying again!

Well, it's a New Year! I'm hoping to make the best of 2016 and really focus on just eating my three plates and not overthinking things...and not jumping ship....for the whole year.
Today was green! I move to Honolulu in six days. I cannot wait to settle down and get back into a routine of sorts!!! We are also quite behind in homeschool with all this military moving this past year!
I feel good about what God has ahead. He has always been faithful 😀

tobiasman,
Just wanted to stop by and wish you the very best with your move and to extend my sincere gratitude to your entire family for their sacrifice and service to our country.
I wouldn't worry too much about the home schooling right now, the whole process of a new place is a learning experience unto itself.
Best of luck with NoS and everything in 2016.

Tuesday
A GREEN Tuesday over here 😀😀😀😀
I shipped the minivan to Hawaii today! It's getting real now. It's exciting that I will get to see hubby in two days. We have been apart for a few months because he had to report early. The kids are excited!!
It is one of our last nights at my grandma's house and I wanted to have some cookies (she has a ton), but I didn't! I also wanted to eat way more than I needed to at lunch today...but I kept it to a normal serving. Two huge wins today 😋😋

Red day yesterday on the plane. I just snacked on junk while dealing with the kids on the plane. No excuses. Just moving forward 😀
So the funny thing is that I'm in a year-long weight loss challenge with a bunch of friends (we have quarterly challenges). We weigh on Fridays. Most of them are totally depriving themselves right now and dropped huge numbers this week. I am down 2.8 this week, which is way more than I expected for sure and I know it will be much less weekly from here, but the great part is I am already following my maintenance program and am eating normal food. I feel that slow and steady wins the race. I plan to still be trotting along slowly, enjoying myself, 50 weeks from now when I assume they will have quit 😜😜😜. But since they are my friends and I love them, I do wish them the best!!!
Week 1: 212.6

a few days
My S days were somewhat sane...maybe a little too many donuts on Sunday 😝 Monday was green AND I started a Bootcamp class! Today I got in my own head and started cutting out stuff, only to end up snacking and eating sugar tonight 😬 Lesson learned. Working on green tomorrow! I am super sore from Bootcamp the past two days. Wowza!!

I had a red Wednesday...Costco sample that then led to an afternoon chips and salsa snack 😝😝. The good part is that I ate dinner and stopped. No WTH effect! One little victory at a time.
I have officially lived in Hawaii for a week! I am slowly but surely learning the ropes. Hubby's night shift is killer.....

I am struggling to control this brain of mine!!! I flip flop all darn day. Food and dieting consume me. I am committed to continuing this No-S journey and continuing to change this messed up brain of mine. I know No-S is the answer because I seriously can't stick to anything else. No-S I can do. It's jumping ship for other diets that causes all these red days. Midway through the day I think I should count points or eat less carbs or track my macros....and I end up just throwing my hands up and binging!! There's obviously some deep rooted issues there from all my years of dieting! More than 25 years of dieting!!! I will conquer this and come out on the other side free! I know it's possible. I just can't give up.
So I am going to dust myself off, get a good night's rest, and go back to battle in the morning!!! It's worth it!

You can definitely do it. See, the red days are there so you can work out your triggers and then you can work out what to do about them for the next fifty years. You could think of them as actually part of your path to long term freedom!
Well done stopping after dinner on Wednesday and even better done coming back to this forum after red Thursday.
Fall down seven times, stand up eight.

Many years ago I decided to learn to dance. I had no rhythm and I hated dancing but I was always being dragged onto the dance floor at weddings and holiday parties.Committed to ONE year of No-S... no diet hopping!!
I decided to learn to dance so that I could survive those events without humiliating myself. And, like you're doing with No-S, I decided to give myself a year to do this.
The first three months were so hard. I was the worst one in the class. I didn't think I'd ever get the hang of it.
Then somewhere around the three-month point I started -- sometimes -- to have fun. I was still the worst one in whatever class I was taking. But I began to enjoy a dance here and there.
I kept up with it for the full year, and for about ten years after that as well. I loved it.
And during those ten years, when people would ask what I did for fun and I'd say I loved to go dancing, they'd say, "I took a class but I couldn't do it" or "I took a class but I didn't enjoy it" -- and I realized how fortunate I was to know in advance it would be hard AND that I decided in advance that I'd give it a year.
If I hadn't given it a year, I would have given up after one class just like they did.
Anyway, when I saw that you're giving No-S for a year, I cheered for you. You sound like someone who knows yourself, and you're giving this a solid go.
February
I am here. I had a temporary two-week lapse of judgment and was following a diet again! Blech! I actually lost some weight, but I was quite miserable at the prospect of having to eat that way much longer. I even followed No-S with that plan half the time but realized the true freedom in No-S is just plain vanilla 3 plates a day without all kinds of rules.
Planning to have a much more enjoyable February. Starting weight for February is 208.6. So it looks like I'm down about 7 pounds. 😀

yeah glad you're back! I noticed my bouts w/ traditional diets got shorter and shorter to the point where my last attempt at a diet (juice fast) lasted about 3 hrs.
Now I go with the rule that I won't do any kind of eating or exercise plan that I can't see happily doing forever.

February so far...
So I have had ONLY four green days this month so far 😜 But the best news is that I have continued on No-S with no diet hopping and wake up every morning trying to do better. I have been getting some running in and that feels awesome! I now just plan to really focus on my three plates. Who cares what's on them. I just need to avoid the sweets and eat the three plates. Most days I give in to sugar. It's very addictive for me. So that's where I need to focus more energy to avoid during N days!!!
Onward. I won't give up. I plan to be a bit better at this by the end of 2016 😜

Your attitude sounds good. Not too much drama about the failures. Rational reflection about what to do in the future. I think concentrating on the plates alone is a great strategy. The refinements will come later, esp. if it becomes very clear what you think the advantages are to make them.
Sugar is addictive for just about everyone here. If you'd like some suggestions about how to think about that, let me know.
This is your year!
