I am an 'old' S-er but changed my name because I feel like the identity and goals I had when I started are not the same as they are now. I'm getting 'up there' in years - and when I look back over the years, worries about my weight (even when it was 'normal') tarnish so many memories and run through every single period of my life.
I want to spend my remaining years Living with joy and exhilaration - not stressing, obsessing, worrying, measuring, weighing, counting - searching for an 'answer', feeling inadequate and worthless. Right now, I just want Simplicity, Stability and Sanity. (That 'S' is a handy letter!)
I don't know if it's possible to turn around the habits of 40+ years, but I know it isn't possible at all if I don't take the first step.

Welcome back Titania! I had a similar experience. Originally I came to NoS desperate to lose weight. When that didn't happen fast enough, I left only to gain more weight. A few years later I just had had it with the constant obsessing and feeling out of control constantly.
When I came back (also changed my name) it was with the goal to make peace with food. I did that big time and after a year of that I was ready to make some changes with the what on my plate and very slowly (over 9 months) lost about 40 lbs.
So you have the right mindset. Habits first (that will lead to peace) and if weight comes off as a result, great! If not, you're still a million times better off than when you started, right?
So hang in there. Take it day by day!
