Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Hello, I lost weight with this diet the first time around, and have been successful at keeping some of the principles. But I am starting to lose ground and lose good habits, so I'm going to post for 21 days, being strict again, to get back on track. Today is the first day.

Day 1 - SUCCESS

M1 - bowl of beans, rice, and cheese; coffee.
M2 - bowl of beef chili; orange; decaf coffee.
M3 - pork & veg dumplings.

I'm also posting my weight for extra motivation. I'll post it again on Day 21. Start weight: 189.5 lbs. (And I'll try really really hard not to weigh between now and then.)

Day 4 - FAILURE

Done in by a shared appetizer at an Indian restaurant. BUT I successfully did not order dessert despite having already failed. So, that's progress.

Day 5 - SUCCESS

M1 - Egg and bacon biscuit. (I went into the bakery to get a muffin for breakfast but none passed straight-face test for not being a sweet. Chocolate cream cheese? Raspberry jam with a crumble top? So I got the biscuit, which was delicious.)
M2 - Turkey sandwich.
M3 - Bean salad. Wild rice and turkey salad.

Days 6 & 7 - S-Days

Day 8 - SUCCESS

M1 - Oh, foo. Bought yogurt then there was a crisis at work and I didn't get a chance to eat it.
M2 - Turkey sandwich. Chips.
M3 - Pasta with chicken and asparagus. Acorn squash.
