Tonissa's Daily Check In!!

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Tonissa's Daily Check In!!

Post by tonissa1 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 5:23 pm

Day 1: Success
Day 2: Success
Day 3: Success
 Today is the first check-in day for me!! Whoo Hoo! Even though I started this diet on Monday, April 21st, I must say Whoo Hoo!! as this has not been that bad! I decided to start "nosing" on Monday, as I also started on a low to no-sodium diet at the discretion of my doctor who has now diagnosed me with high blood pressure!! At any rate, I am really getting into this diet!

I, too, like most of us here, have tried every diet in the world...every diet pill in the world...no wonder I have high blood pressure  I never had a weight problem until after having kids. I was always the one being teased for being so skinny when I was a kid! Go figure!!

This week has been a good week for me. I have not been hungry in between my meals at all. I read the book before starting and found that I should put more than enough on my plate to start out so that I can begin to notice the shift in my appetite. It has change quite a bit over the last 4 days!

I do try to make smart choices for my meals...low sodium, less fatty foods, and more water. Water is the hardest part for me. Luckily, I have found the Fruit 2 O to be a great alternative at times...no calories either!!

I will begin checking in at least 4 times a week...I would say everyday, but that may be pushing it a bit :P .

Good luck and Happy Week to All!

Tonissa,

WELCOME! Sounds like you are doing great. I have just been doing a little over thirty days and I remember between the first and second week I also had a big shift in my appetite ... down ...kind of amazing huh?

Daily Check In

Post by tonissa1 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 12:56 pm

Day 4: Success
Day 4 was very successful for me. I have found a really good cereal for breakfast: Berry Burst Cherrios! It is whole grain, with real strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. This is a good way for me to get my fruit and whole grains in early in the day. I have begun making my own ceasar salads for lunch. Yum, yum!!

With this diet, I have noticed that I am spending LESS money on food. Eating out had become expensive, not to mention the other bad benefits. But, I think this is starting to sink in with my kids as well. They are eating a lot less junk food and fast food.

The S days are coming up and I'm anxious to see who those days come along. I will keep everyone informed.

Be Blessed!! :D

Day 5: Success

Day 5 was another successful day! I had Wendy's for lunch, but had healthy things: mandarin oranges and a plain baked potato. Dinner was also healthy - veggies and grilled shrimp!

Today is my first "S" day! I am anxious to see how I feel about actually getting to snack ahd have sweets. To be honest, I haven't really thought about gorging on anything in particular, which is quite the opposite of me two weeks ago!

Day 6 and 7...

Post by tonissa1 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 3:40 pm

Day 6: Success
Day 7: Success

Both S days were a success for me. I only had 1 snack the whole weekend...low sodium tortilla chips and salsa on Saturday. I didn't feel the urge to eat more...just because it was there. I am off to another successful week!!

Be Blessed
