Six Months and Counting

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Six Months and Counting

:D :I am still on this great "diet" and so far have lost 10 pounds. I started in April and I think it is probably the easiest thing I have ever done. You don't have to worry about packing snacks if you are going to be out for the day or worry about what or how much you are eating (platefulls are enough of a measure) or how many calories are in it, but I have finally figured it out I think. I eat very healthily and I walk 1-2 miles a day, every day and I never could understand why the weight was slowly creeping up on me as I aged. I finally figured out it was the "healthy" snacks that I had twice a day and the handful of nuts and low calorie desserts every night that were doing me in. It is very simple but healthy or not it is a calorie. So, now I put a couple of apple slices next to my sandwich or pears in my green salad or bananas in my cereal and I even bake artisan whole grain bread and have it with breakfast. I do use Splenda and drink diet drinks but I feel great and look better than I have in years. The weight did not come off quickly but I kept No S ing and all of a sudden my clothes fit better, I sleep better and am amazed at the ease of it all. :D

(platefulls are enough of a measure)
Annapolis Princess,

I find that to be true, by "measuring" my plates I don't have to ... or WANT to measure anything else :D

Congratulations on your great RESULTS!
