100 day challenge

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

100 day challenge

Post by Y Goddodin » Fri Nov 13, 2009 4:31 pm

Gonna re-start a log as it gives me a little more focus. These are the goals I am working on. I know 3 goals at a time is ideal, but 3 & 4 are pretty much down already so it's just a case of keeping up the work there.

Habit Goals:

1. No S
2. Glass Ceiling
3. 20 minutes of daily exercise
4. some kind of daily meditation
5. weekend luddite*

*No internet except banking, email and this log from 9-6 weekdays....

To give myself a nice target to aim at, I want 80% success at these for the next 100 days.

100 days worked for me much more effectively than 21 days which is more common here. I hope you enjoy the same success.

I love your screen name. Are you Welsh?

thanks for the encouragement... yes, well spotted on the screen-name. It's the title of an old welsh epic poem. Well, Celtic if not specifically welsh.

Yesterday, day 4:
15-11-09

1. No S - exempt... some general greediness.
2. Glass Ceiling - success, 0 units
3. 20 minutes of daily exercise - success - more mobility stuff and some more walking
4. meditation - success
5. weekend luddite - exempt

4. meditation - success
5. weekend luddite - success

Thursday 19th - Day 8

Friday 20th - Day 9

1. No S - success.
2. Glass Ceiling - success, 0 units
3. 20 minutes of daily exercise - success - strength work
4. meditation - success
5. weekend luddite - success

Saturday 21st - Day 10

1. No S - exempt
2. Glass ceiling - FAIL! Had 3 drinks over at a friends. Not the worst sin ever but a fail none the less
3. 20 mins exercise - success, some mobility stuff
4. meditation - success, albeit a brief one
5. weekend luddite - exempt

Sunday 22nd - Day 11

1. No S - exempt
2. Glass ceiling - success, 0 units
3. 20 mins exercise - FAIL... over at a friends, then 3 hours on the road so no time.
4. meditation - FAIL, see above
5. weekend luddite - exempt

so day 10 & 11 weren't great, but I'll try not to beat myself up over these things. I want to do 100 days and then see what my stats are rather than aim for 21 days straight.

Doesn't Y Goddodin have one of the earliest mentions of King Arthur, or am I misremembering that?
