LK's daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

LK's daily check in

Post by moderatemeals » Mon Aug 09, 2010 11:05 pm

Hi -
I want to join the 21 day club and am posting for extra motivation and accountability. (I did a weigh in this morning and won't weigh in again until the end of the 21 days -- not really trying to lose weight just weighed in more for curiosity!) I'm doing this challenge to create a healthier relationship with food.

Hi -
I am going to start adding what I ate as well as whether or not the day was successful.

Bkft: Bowl of oatmeal with blueberries and granola
Lunch: 2 fajitas & chips
Dinner: Shredded pork, lime/cilantro rice, black bean salsa and chips. Plate was full! I did have a few bites of things that were not on my plate while I was cooking (wanted to try a bite or two before I served it to the family). I am going to try tomorrow onwards to only eat once I have plated everything. Sometimes I take a bite from my plate while I'm standing and I think that can be a slippery slope!

Today is typically the day I fall off the wagon (normally by the 3rd or 4th day of No S, I am feeling good and so I tell myself I can have a little treat and then I eat way too much and feel very guilty and just gross!), so am keeping my fingers crossed that I can steer clear of the sweets tonight. I am allowing myself a bowl of cereal at night/4th meal for this first week to help with hunger esp since I'm not seeking a weight loss by doing No S.

Does anyone know -- does Vanilla No S meal 3 meals only per day? Not sure if that 4th meal counts as a modification. I am going to try to drop that 4th meal next week.

That's all!

I am going to classify yesterday as a failure though it wasn't that bad. We had an event to go to in the evening and the food was pretty bad. I had one small plate of what was at the buffet but wasn't really satisfied. When I came home around 11:30 last night I had some chips because I was still hungry. I should have just gone to bed, but I cannot go to bed on an empty and rumbling stomach! I should have made a bowl of cereal or something a little healthier and I am noting this as my plan for next time I am in this situation.

I wasn't going to weigh myself until the end of my 21 days, but was curious since I feel so much lighter. I was down 3 pounds which was nice to see.
