AmazingGrace's Daily Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

AmazingGrace's Daily Check In

Post by amazinggrace911 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 3:42 am

Greetings!!!! I first ran across the NO S diet several years ago. Tried it for a while, but I wasn't ready to give up my overeating. Ouch! That hurts to say that, but it's true. Now my weight is almost back up to my high point and I need to get back on track.

I had to have back surgery and was in hospitals/nursing homes for 2-1/2 months. Came home in June. After rereading about No S today, I realized that except for the no sweets during the week, this is how I was eating. You received one plate of food and no snacks. (We were supposed to have snacks in the nursing home, but they usually didn't come back to our room.) During that time I lost a little bit of weight and kept it off -- until I came home and started back to my bad habits. I have put on about 10 pounds in the past three months!!! I weigh about 222. Looking forward to starting to eat better!! I think knowing that I can have some treats on the weekend will help keep me focused. At least I hope so!!

I'm going to do an additional no s -- no soda except on days beginning with s and no diet soda at all. I like to drink tea and plan on getting back to drinking lots of water!!

Blessings,
Lenise

Post by amazinggrace911 » Tue Sep 14, 2010 2:38 am

SUCCESS!!

I know the day isn't quite over yet, but I have no plans on going near the kitchen. Just drinking my water. We're leaving for the store around 11:30 as ds wants to buy the new HALO. When we get home I'm going to bed!!
