Believe in Yourself

Believe in yourself

When you’re trying to lose weight, believing in your goals and having a positive attitude is just as important as improving your diet and being active. If you have a plan to keep yourself motivated while you're losing weight, you stand a much better chance of succeeding.

Write Down Your Goals

It’s time to write down your goals for a healthy lifestyle.

What would you like to accomplish? Lose weight? Have more energy? Improve your diet? Think about your goals and how you will feel once you reach them. Be sure to keep your goals realistic and attainable. “Look like a movie star†may not be a realistic or actionable goal. However, if you are overweight, committing to losing 10% of your weight is both achievable and meaningful.

Write down your goals and put them on the refrigerator to act as a daily reminder and inspiration.

Make it a Family Affair

If you’ve started to improve your eating habits—congratulations! You’re on the road to feeling and looking better.

Now it’s time to work on the family. Eating as a healthy example is important, but there are also easy ways you can get everyone around you to eat better, too.

Here are some easy-to-follow strategies:
*Eat one meal together as a family every day—even if it’s breakfast
*Turn off the television and put the phones away during mealtime
*Take your children grocery shopping, pointing out healthy choices
*Get your family involved in meal planning, and work together to pick out recipes
*Don’t force children to clean their plate; instead teach them to stop eating when they are full

Better yet, teach children to eat until they've had enough or they're satisfied.
