WHAT is tiger butter?
Sometimes I think the habitcal should also have orange as an option to post small failures that don't balloon into big ones. Or yellow-green? Is there a name for that color? maybe neon green?
Your comment that 5 pounds a month is so 2011- priceless!

Tiger butter is white chocolate chips melted with chunky peanut butter spread in a pan and then some semisweet chocolate melted , poured on top and swirled into a "tiger" pattern. It is scrumptious even though I am not a peanut butter nut. I have perfected the recipe by decreasing the semisweet chocolate becuase it inter fears with the other flavors too much
A big yes to the neutral habit cal color!!!!!!

Success finally I was worried becuase I had a lighter lunch than I anticipated.
B...scrambles egg with mush, and onions and a little Brie I had left over, and half of a banana. Two coffees
L...a bowl of potato soup
D...chicken alla king...I was too lazy to make a veggie side.
I had a tea in the afternoon too.
Worked out in the morning.

Give yourself credit for just having the meal at lunch. No need right now to be embarrassed about its content. Worry about it after a hundred N day meals.

Been a rough stressful time recently. My mom's dog broke loose a week ago late at night and she went out to get him becuase his lead was tangled in some trees. She fell and broke her ankle in three places and dragged herself home in the snow and sleet! It was not that close either! She slept on the kitchen floor and called me in the morning, and finally called an ambulance. She had surgery on her ankle and is now in a nursing home until she recovers becuase she can't lift herself or get herself about (she is 77)
She is a little depressed becuase the home is full of OLD people....her own words.
So here I am ready to get back on track.

Your poor mom!
Reminds me, though, that when my mom was 79, she fell and broke her hip. Apparently, she did quite well recuperating because my sister overheard her doctor talking about how exemplary one of his 80-year old patients was doing after hip surgery- except my sister didn't recognize who he was talking about at first because HER mother was not an 80-year-old woman!
Hope your eating is going well.

Thank you both for your kind thoughts. I did manage to resist the urge to eat and had a success.
Yesterday was a fail but not a bad one. I took my mom to a doctor appt that ran two and a half hours late and ended up eating a late lunch. I had a Greek salad with some baguette, not enough to eat apparently though I was full from it I was starving an hour later. I was making stovetop popcorn for the kids and had no intention to eat it but it got the best of me. I had some popcorn and a few peanuts .
I was not hungry for dinner I made some bruschetta and put it on top of portabella mushrooms with a sprinkle of cheese. Not a bad dinner, and not an eating disaster either. I was pretty hungry at bedtime but that does not bother me anymore.
Off to build robots with my son.

What a harrowing experience for your mother and how scary for your whole family. I wish her the best of luck. I love and totally understand her "old people" comment about staying in the home. For all of us over 65, the longer we can stay out of those places, the better for us. If they are necessary, they are where we need to be but if we can leave and stay involved in life, that is so much better.
Hang in there and take care of yourself.

thanks for the kind words. We took my mom back to her home about two weeks ago. It seems like she is having some kind og dimentia Now. Her short term memory is alarmingly bad!!!! We have an appointment wit a neurologist mid April. My moms house looks like it could be on Hoarders. This week is spring break. Next week when the kids go back to school I will start helping her clear out. I have a good realtor who can assess weather it's worth fixing up or not. I am afraid it's not....then I worry about her finances and what available for her.....
Big sigh, deep breath, here I am back trying to get some constancy going. Been good more or less about no snacks, but have been binging terribly.

Hi there...stress can really trigger us to want to comfort ourselves with food...with everything going on with you mom that is a huge stress factor. Keep in mind that when the urge to binge strikes...remind yourself "boy it sure will not fix things and will only make things worse because I'll feel poorly that I did". I had come to the realization that binging does nothing for me anymore..only satisfies for an instant and then not even for an instant. That I continue to binge trying to fill something..it just doesn't work, ya know.
My husband had surgery last year and is on disability so I'm the sole bread winner while we fight for SSID..so the stress surrounds me..and during the last year I put on 15lbs..
I hope you can get others to help you with the clean-up, not a fun task I'm sure.
Hope things go well.

Thank you nos
Pretty good day
Took my mom to the doctors and bought ber back home. We played
Bananagrams (kinda like scrabble) with mt 11 year old DD. She is so sweet!
I made the kids and my mom hotdogs, and didn't have any.
Later I took her grocery shopping then back to her house.
B...scrambled eggs with veggies.
L...peanut butter and banana on ww bread, some pita chips with yogurt dill dip.
D...big salad, I realized it wasn't enough after I ate, so I made a quesodilla.
I made roast lamb for my family....I really dislike lamb so had the salad, ant two roasted potatoes from the lamb along with the quesodilla.
I did want to keep eating but refrained.
I told myself"I really don't need anything else. I will be fine not eating"

Way to go! Sounds like you're doing great on your return back to No S. The fact that we're coming back to this shows that we know that this is the right plan for us....just have to stick to it this time!snapdragon wrote:I did want to keep eating but refrained.

Thanks for stopping by my thread. Yeah, I'm ready to clean up my act.....I hit 40 this year, and suddenly I realize with the extra 20 lbs., not-so-great eating habits, and lack of exercise - if I keep this up, I'll be moving pretty slowly by the time I get older! Just the term "clean eating" sounds appealing to me now (trust me, something I thought I'd NEVER say!). Not that I want to go on a over-the-top, munchin on nothin but "greens" kinda diet, but just incorporating better foods. If I find any foods that really help out, I'll be sure to pass them on to you.
Good luck with No S'ing! Have a great day.

Thanks gk, I am rounding the corner to 40 at 37 it's not going to get any easier.
Success!
B....eggs veggies and feta
L....big salad with garbanzo beans for protein and avocado for fat
D....plate of pasta with veggies and cheese.
I wanted to keep eating after dinner. I told myself "this will not always be easy, sometimes I am going to be uncomfortable. I just have to press on, this will go away."
I took my kids and dogs to the dog park to distract myself and had a good time.

I like the way you are always telling yourself certain things when you want to keep on eating. I've tried that, too......I take 3-4 deep breaths, remind myself why I'm NOT eating more, and then use the art of distraction.snapdragon wrote:I wanted to keep eating after dinner. Thanks guys. I am making a point of logging those thoughts to keep reinforcing them. Sometimes I forget to...like yesterday. I had a fail, but not a disaster. These are things I learned from Judith Beck.
Fail
B....eggs and veggies, a sprinkle of cheese
L....cottage cheese with grapes and toasted walnuts
Celery with chunky pb
Fail....popchips
D.....taco salad
Fail a little extra taco salad and extra doritos
Though I failed twice it could of been worse. Time to move on. It was like I was on an elevator going down fast, and I jumped before I crashed.
I have some yummy meals planned today....so time to move on.

Another big fail!!!!! Gosh I just want to stop binging.
Okay I wanted to write what I had for dinner so I don't forget it as it was So yummy.
I mixed part skim ricotta with chopped garlic and fresh basil, roasted some vegetables and mixed it all with some barilla plus pasta. I REALLY enjoyed it.
I like to roast a bunch of veggies and keep them in the fridge for salads and stuff so this could make a quick and easy lunch if I keep pasta in my fridge too.

Thanks Liz I guess I am being a bit dramatic....I stay home and spend so much time in the kitchen feeding everyone!!!! I make many things from scratch for family too like granola bars, Lara bars, soft pretzels with whole wheat, smoothiesECT. My kids are starving when they come home and pretty athletic so I try and get good food into them.
I am on a mission to stay away from fast food,Or bringing in meals. it is so easy to get into that habit my husband and and I are addicted to chipoltles burrito bowls!
I have not had much success lately, I am not going to freak out because its "that time of the month" my goal is not to binge then start again Monday. I have been reading an interesting blog called www.theiflife.com it's quite good with lots of useful info for us no essers.
I hope everyone is doing well!!!!

I totally relate, snapdragon. Like totally.
I admire and also love your feeding everyone from scratch! I try to do that most times. But baking I've put on hold for a tad until weekends. It's so hard though. I have three growing boys and feeding them is a chore in and of itself. I can't imagine how it will be when they are teens (plus the hubby).
I also totally agree with not doing fast food and stuff. Man it's hard feeding a fam and not eating too mucH!!
I just thought maybe you were in a restaurant business or something!
I had a fail tonight and it mainly was due to me cooking veggie burgers and the boys not wanting them. They basically had a couple bites and were done.
The "not waste" self unconsciously put a few bites in my mouth. Along with the chips.
Before you know it, I kinda took the S and ran...
That's all I say and leave the rest for my check-in.
Anywho, I get it. It's rough as I realized tonight.
Keep trucking and am excited to check out that website! Thanks!

I have 3 teens and a tween and stay home. I too try to have them eat healthy stuff. We rarely eat out at all. My almost 17 year old son eats out at subway with friends after tennis lately... he works there too, so I guess he could be next door at Burger King or somewhere. I try to make homeade food as much as I can, although I've been slacking the older the kids get and the busier I get. It's a lot cheaper and better for all of us. They eat a lot of popcorn. I have a huge basket of fruit out on the counter to eat whenever. I have a fit if anyone eats within an hour of a meal, so they know not to even go there. I can't stand it when they stand in an open fridge while I'm cooking!
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me

I have to laugh about that my kids are like locusts sometimes. Homemade treats tend to slow them down a little I can buy a box of granola bars and their gone in an hour or bake a batch and it lasts a few days because they are still good but not quite as sweet. Of course if my husband finds them they are gone!
Switching it up a bit today. As I have been binging and struggling so much. I skipped breakfast (sort of) and ate a healthy lunch at around ten. It was a ww wrap with turkey cheese veggies and a bit of ranch with a banana. I will make more granola bars and have one with kids after school and a normal dinner. Fingers crossed.

Friday was a success!!!! Felt good about it, was more motivTed to eat healthy on Saturday, well during the day any way. Sat night we pitched our tent in the basement so we had pizza, garlic bread and s'mores for dinner. It was too cold to camp outside but still made a fire in the back yard for the s'mores.
Sunday a bit wild but one thing that tamed it a bit and saved me from waking up sick and bloated is I ate dessert after dinner as opposed to late at night after kids go down. I had the urge to eat last night but stopped and told myself I already had plenty of treats this weekend.
I won't call it a mod but think I will stick to eating any planned deserts right after a meal on weekends to keep the structure, unless I am out at a social event. It was a different mindset than waiting until kids are in bed, more of a social thing with family.plus a little digested before bed. Not sure what I am going to do about lunch today might be a crazy day as we have no groceries and out of most cleaning supplies, and need to take my mom to get a blood test.

YAY!
Hooray for a pretty good weekend! I understand that it is nicer sometimes to have dessert with dinner. It almost just "closes the gates" for the night.
I did that last night too and didn't feel as bloated at bedtime (though I'm sure I still had a big dessert).
It might be a good habit on S days to adopt.
Sounds like a busy day. Good luck this week!

YAYYYY Snappy! Well done !
I had a bit of a Monday blow out - or perhaps slip up - a magnum ice cream after dinner. Not so bad in the grand scheme of things, I figure, but it was my reasons for doing so that made me wary and hope it wasn't the start of a slippery slope! So far, so good, had a good N Day today and it being the first of the month n all, time for a fresh start!
Hope you had a good day and your mom is doing okay, too.
Take care

Wow it's been a while since I checked in. I think it's good to be consistent with the checkins to see patterns, the good and the bad.
Life has been crazy, I have not been great with no s but not terrible either. The good news is the scale is moving down. About seven pounds in the past three months or so. So yay for that.
B scrambled eggs
L quessidilla cherries, persimmon, carrots and dip.
Planning on making bruschetta for dinner, was going to make scallops too but DH won't be home until late so will have them tomorrow.

Thanks guys
This Tuesday was a fail Wednesday was an s day.
Yesterday was a success!!!! We have a graduation party at a neighbors house. We are going to stop by but probably not stay. We aren't good friends with them or their group, we like them just don't have much in common, so show up give a gift be polite then home, so that lessens the danger of overdoing it.
Monday ismy little mans birthday. He wants vanilla cookies...whatever that means. Will probably make cookies out of cake mix, I think I have done that in the past and they were pretty good and something I think he would like. All my kids have special birthday treats they like. My oldest gets a tart with lemon curd and blueberries and my DD #2 gets brownies with caramel, marshmallows and crumbled up ghram crackers. Still figuring out what DD #3 really likes and little man too.
We are also going on vacation at the end of the month. I usually don't do to bad on vacation as far as three meals so it shouldn't be a disaster. We are going to Florida for two weeks, three days will be in Disney
We decided on a package where we ger three meals a day. I was against it at first but after walking around it would probably be nice to sit in a restraunt to get our bearings and rest up.
If any of you have any Disney tips please let me know!!!!

I can't believe it's almost a year to the day since I checked in! I have been counting calories the past few months and lost a bit of weight and ready to go ha k to no s. I still hope to lose about 50 pounds but not in a hurry. Counting calories was very helpful to me and helped with portion control ect. I also realized how important exercise use is e en just 15 min a day! So here I am and glad to be back! Really struggling again with night time eating lately.

I had two success days yippee! Planning a nice day foodwise. found a recipe for curry sauce to go with chips/fries and having that for dinner. Baking a huge pile of fries because I am too lazy to fry them and serving it in a pile on the table with curry sauce, malt vinegar, chili aioli, and ketchup! There will be fruit and salad served too. I have the makings for smores and cinnamon rolls, not sure which one I will make today, and which one will be for tomorrow.
I hope to get a hike in this afternoon, and play with the kiddos outside.

Way o er the top s day. Hope to reign it in a bit today. Been thinking a lot about how important it is to set a good example of a healthy relationship with food to my kids.
My 12 year old had a friend hospitalized for anorexia a few months. Was looking at my 14 y.o computer and noticed lots of searches for diet I formation. She is not at all over weight. I have never talked about being unhappy about my weight of dieting in front of them. I have talked about healthy eating tons. I really need to set an example, not only with healthy foods but enjoying treats without guilt too not too much though .

So I just got back from the farmers market. Got some healthy stuff and three types of cheese that are crazy good, butterscotch peanut butter, and some artisan bread. Too many delicious things to eat! Planning a bonfire And s'more making tonight.

Snap, hang in there.
Back in the day, I got used to eating according to the 40*30*30 principles with a fair amount of veggies. I found when I used those meals when I was on WW, they allowed me to eat a generous volume of food for moderate calories. I used to think that the meals other WW-ers were using sounded puny and unsatisfying in comparison. Those stupid meal bars and energy bars those poor people were using- and ending up overeating on. In any case, it means I can and sometimes do make a general estimate of the calories in a meal, mostly because I will likely finish what's on my plate and I don't really want to get too full. It was useful for me to have an idea of calories, though some others don't seem to need it.

Thank You Ohlala for the encouragement. This is a process I need to remember that. Yesterday a fail today so far so good. Spent the day at the beach a bit sunburned but a fun day.
I am feeling a bit sad. I just read an email from my sister about my dad. I am not close to him and he lives in a different country. His health has been deteriorating he has dementia and has been havi g strokes. His doctors are amazes by how slow the dementia is moving. I think the fact that he has always been disciplined and established good habits throughout his life has made all the difference in his ability to take care of himself.
My mom s the polar opposite. She is completely falli g apart and I am helpless and can't help her at all. She never had good habits or self discipline and now no matter how much she needs or wants to get into a routine she just can't. She wants all these things but unwilling to take any actions becuase she never really has. It is hard to think about.

Hi, stopping by to say howdy neighbor
Sounds like you are doing great! What a wonderful day you described with your family. We have a big fishing pond on our farm as does my son. I have three great grandsons who love to fish. They release them as well. My son says they are probably catching the same six fish over and over but they think they have caught hundreds.

Thank You Kind Lady! When I was about 6 I won a fishing contest while on vacation in Minnesota. I caught 18 fish! My brother swears he saw the fish swim straight back to my hook after it was thrown back. LOL.
My bread machine is sitting on my counter squeaking away while kneading dough for pizza. It is my second batch I might need a third for the six of us and any friends that might straggle by. I cooked up some hot Italian sausage and onions and peppers for the topping.
Planning on taking the kids geocaching later. There is one near us we have tried to find twice to no luck. Today is the day! I just feel it.
I am trying to stay active especially on days I have no planned exercise.
p.s if you don't know what geocaching is it is sort of a treasure hunt. geocaches are hidden all over the world! you need a gps device which I have an app for on my phone. You basically go on the website get the clues and information and off you go.

Hi Annie! Thank you for stopping by!
I had a big fail last night. Over tired and over hungry.
I Did a fitness class in the morning so had some kefir before. I feel like the kefir solved the problem of needing something before I work out but not wanting breakfast so early, and its a drink with high protein and enough carbs to get me through the workout and worked with No S well.
I splurged at the store yesterday and bought some fresh green figs. They are delicious! I never had a problem splurging on junk food, so why not special produce I don't get a chance to eat very often?
I have lots of stuff for the makings of awesome salads. Going to get my family out to do some fun stuff today, and get back on track!
Have a great day everyone!!!!!

I bought a lot of cherries this year. I would never spend the money on them before, but realized that they're here only for a few months, and they cost about the same as what I would binge on in the same amount of time.

Back safe and sound from NYC had a great time. On Wednesday we literally walked 9 hours. Had a great time I don't feel I went overboard with the sweets, but discovered I don't enjoy some sweets as much as I used to. I actually was frusterated with that.
Went to the farmers market this morning, then came home and cooked some farm fresh eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, toast and fruit for brunch with the family.Had a nice plateful plus some extra fruit. I picked up some special super sweet corn and will make that for dinner, maybe with some beet greens if I feel like it. I have lots to do, looking forward to being back to a schedule.

I've felt a bit sad at times that I don't get the same pleasure out of things I used to eat. I bought some expensive cupcakes for a little event last night. They were just okay, honestly. I wish I had held out for chocolate mousse cake. The only sweets that seem to really do it for me now are chocolate fluffy things or chocolate thumbprint cookies. Or maybe that's just my mood right now.
Back to pleasurable routines!

Hi Ohlala,
Funny about the cupcakes, that is exactly what I had and did not enjoy. I can totally agree about the fluffy chocolate deserts, and a few kinds of cookies I can get at Trader Joe's. I also like either dove ice cream bars, the double chocolate kind or Talenti Gelato.
Not so good this week. Hoping to get on track today if I make it! I am really hungry right now. I had some milk but still quite ravenous. We are eating dinner later now that soccer season is underway, so I have another hour and a half before dinner.
B...eggs with Canadian bacon and two coffees with half and half.
l...egg salad on triscuts, cherries
D...will be baked potatoes with cheese, broccoli, bacon and bbq sauce, some fruit too.
The bacon is crisping up in the oven. My goal is not to devour it until dinner!

Monday was a total FAIL had a cookie binge late at night. Tuesday success, only because I ended taking my mom to the ER because she thought she had a stroke. She is fine but was dehydrated. Going to try to stay busy today and distract myself from overeating. Not in the mood to log much more will come back when I have more time.

I am still here and working on this. I have made improvements, bu8t no perfect weeks yet. Progress not perfection. I have been working out more and forgot how much I love it. The bad part of that is I wake up at 4:30 to get to the class and it kills me. so I skipped today. My goal is three times this week. My other goal is to sit at the table and eat mindfully.
