Ok, white knuckling til dinner. Lunch was at 1 and dinner will be late, like 8 or 9. really want to snack or have cake. and had a big lunch. this is the hardest part lunch to dinner
B = 3 open faced sandwiches (one plate), butter and tomato and onion, hard cheese, tomato and onion, third one soft spreadable brie cheese, 1/2 a pickle
L = Mexican restaurant: 2 cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole (the chips and dip were really not on the same plate but... it was part of the meal and i'm not ready to call that a total fail)
D = tba, it will be late, may have dessert cuz it is an S day, I can do this

WEll, I've been out of your loop, but things are moving in the right direction for sure. Congrats!
I still have days in which the wait for dinner can seem too long, even with my coffee snack. Yesterday I ate 45 minutes early, and ate quite a plate! but nothing later, so it still fit. I'll make more of an effort to last longer today, but these days come.

And if you go on a strict diet and get below 200- what then?
It is often true that we have to eat less than we thought we could to actually lose weight. Partway through No S I read that I would actually have to average about 200 calories a day less than I had often been told I should for weight loss. It actually increased my resolve not to calorie count and to just keep eating my N day meals so that I got legitimately hungry for each meal about an hour before it was time to eat. That habit has spread to S days most of the time now, too. I know I have had some very low days, days that I would have rebelled against if I were on a diet, but they've happened. And I had to learn to respect those low days when they come.
When it comes down to it, food sanity about determining just how much dense food per day (supplemented with freggies) it takes to be satisfied and how you're going to allot that to yourself. Neither eating too much nor too little leads to contentment. And only you can determine it. It might involve a fair amount of white knuckling it at various times over months and years. It's a big mistake to try to eat as little as you can right off the bat, but it's also a mistake to keep eating what you have been just because it was what you wanted in the past.
I'm sorry if I've said anything ridiculous because I haven't read your whole history. I just know you're likely in pain and I still believe in you.

Hang in there. When things are especially tough, try to follow the "day at a time" thought. And review your reasons for wanting to make this change to your eating.

Ok 209.2 this morning. Let's see...what was yesterday like? Stayed in bed most of the day because it was Sunday and I had a cold or maybe just allergies, but was feeling under the weather none the less. Didn't walk and had drinks in the evening.

L = A plate (didn't finish the plate) of chinese take out: terriyaki chicken, veges, fried rice, chow mein, 2 small vege egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce, and 2 cups of soup hot and sour and egg flour, didn't eat everything in container because they give you a lot of food.
D = thai iced boba pineapple slushy thing, was good, few sips of a strawberry milk shake with whipped cream

Thank you so much. I didn't know it would hurt this much. I still go to the back door to let him in, but he's not there. Right now, I feel like I will never go on a walk again. I might have to find other exercise to do.

I don't even know why I am posting. things are just not good right now. 214 plus a decimal pounds this morning. not happy about that. life has been bad lately. i know it can always be worse, but it's still not great right now. it is over 100 degrees, and I am so tired of it. Nobody can control what you put in your mouth. Maybe one sane thing in your life will make it more doable! Food will not fix it. I know you've heard that before. I have the same problem. But being in control of the one thing in life you CAN control.....you can do it

I don't know that I have really been doing nos. I have been trying to eat a lot of whole natural foods. fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. In order to move past the 200s, which I have been hanging out in for too long.

I'm not totally up to speed on your thread, but I certainly sense a long "thread" of frustration that you continue to hover around the same weight.
I wish I knew a little more.... are you tall? are you going through binge/strict phases (because I see a lot of normal eating, but your weight isn't cooperating!)?
Have you been NoSing for a long time?
Anyway, hang in there. As always, we are all rooting for each other and everybody wants to help everybody else! So thanks for sharing, and keep on keepin' on.

I'm a five foot five female. 36 years old. I don't know, it may be genetic. My mom, grandma, and great grandmother all had weight problems. i have lost 60 pounds so far. And have another 50 to go. I am 209. something this morning. walked 4 miles, had fresh squeezed orange juice. I guess I am back at it again today. yesterday, I was so frustrated i just ate whatever and whenever i wanted. today i try again. yes I have been the same weight for a while, and yes I am beyond frustrated. Just had blood work done, my thyroid is normal, so can't blame that. I guess I am just eating too much and not moving enough. sigh. frustrated.

Eating too much? I don't know, Joasia -- I thought you were juice fasting these last weeks! Very healthy foods, but not much of them. I am glad automatedeating reached out to you -- it gives a better perspective of where you are. I have read that sometimes after a big loss like yours, the body takes a break to get a second wind, then after a plateau, further losses occur. Sixty pounds is truly amazing -- good for you, to stick with No S even when it is frustrating!

Well I think your eating has been getting much more in control lately. That number will follow suit. You have had quite a rough time lately with the loss of your pet. Give yourself some grace. You are a total inspiration to me! I am your age and have similar food struggles. So I definitely am in this with you!!

Wow! 60 pounds already lost?! What a huge and wonderful feat! Think of the benefits to your body and your mobility by losing that much!
I second jw's comment about the body needing "breaks" while it gets used to a new, smaller you! Eschano has encouraged me that way. She experienced several plateaus during her weight loss (even though her habits remained solid).
Just imagine: what if by NoSing for many more years you stayed at 210? Isn't that still an easier way to live than at your 60 pounds heavier spot with disordered eating? Oolala is always very good at bringing in that reality check. There really ISN'T a saner way to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF.
And you should read the thread over on Linda's thread about being happy/enjoying our bodies wherever we're at. It's so true that we CAN be happy with out bodies, grateful for all the work it does for us, and appreciate our curves, even when we are overweight. It is a goal worth striving for. As I have been reading that thread, I keep having that 70's song go through my head.... if you can't be with the one (body) you love, love the one (body) you're with!
We're all cheering you on! And in my book, you ARE a success story. You've come a long way, baby!

Yeah I did the juice fast for a few days, but it was difficult to stick to. I think maybe I need to start measuring/weighing my food again. Like I did when on weight watchers. It isn't the most fun thing to do, but it does work. Thank you for all of your supporting words. It is nice to feel support. My mom isn't talking to me because she is angry I am fat. When I pointed out that she is bigger than me, she said she is older, because I am younger I should get it together and lose the weight. So much for her support. That kind of stuff never works, just makes a person want to eat more.

Yeah I know 60 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. But it gets really frustrating when I still have 50 to go and am stuck. Life has thrown a lot my way lately. I just don't think I can take anymore bad news.

Yikes, Joasia -- Sorry you can't depend on your mom for support or even as a diet buddy. Maybe she secretly would like to lose her extra weight, too, and that's why she's so touchy. I'm probably older than your mom -- just turned 62. I also have about 50 pounds to lose. Anyway, hang in there -- slowly but surely, we'll do it!

I am up to speed on your many pages of entries! I did notice a gap there, and then saw that some of your pages had been deleted! Bummer.
But anyway, I now recommend a new screen name for you: Eeyore!! You are hilarious (without even trying, which testifies to your wit!). OK, so here I am wondering about how I can possibly help you with your journey. Then I read your journey and realize that you could write a book to help the rest of us!!
How many times have your posts said that you are not following NoS, but you are! You just fall down and then get back up again. I see your story as long-term bragging rights to reverse a lifetime of poorer eating habits. And how many times have you resisted going back to WW and stuck with NoS!?
And you are so down on yourself, so hard on yourself, and always in the middle of personal challenges...... but it is working for you! You have slowly lost 60 pounds over a number of years. That is so incredibly awesome, that weight is not coming back! You have changed your habits, or you wouldn't have maintained for so long.
And your current plateau: 210 has been here since June (4-5 months). In the big scheme of things, that is not that long.

What makes the difference in whether you walk or not? I know you are quite a walker... do you go in the morning, or evening? Do you not get to go when you day is too busy or just when you are unmotivated/tired?

I go after work. I do a 4 mile loop. My dog used to be my motivation. But since he died, I have been unmotivated to go. My job is so stressful, that I have a hard time finding the motivation to go on a walk at the end of the day. I need to do it everyday. Lately, I have had to force myself when I do go. I can't go in the morning, because it is dark outside and there isn't enough time, I leave for work early 6:30 a.m. I haven't been doing well on the eating front either, I was 213.6 this morning. Need to get it together.

213.6. Ok, I can stop the scale from climbing anymore, I can get back on track. Ok, I can do this. Even though it is treat day at work and Halloween day from hell, I don't have to fail.
B = less than a 1/2 of a breakfast burrito (potato, eggs, cheese, avocado, ketchup) a pint of orange juice, like 4 pieces of popcorn, but I am not calling that a fail.
L = something on a plate from treat day, will try to stay away from candy and cupcakes
D = don't know yet
goal: walk 4 miles, and stay away from Halloween candy and stress eating

Just out of curiosity, I scrolled back to last year at this time and you were at 223 -- so in a year, you've lost ten pounds, maybe a little more -- about a pound a month. Slow but sure. I think it's really frustrating to measure yourself against yesterday, what with fluctuations from the weather, salt intake, hormones, etc., but it can be helpful to look at longer range progress. You're doing great!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I know I have come a ways, 50 some pounds in 5 years, I just have another 50 to go, and it seems harder than ever. But I keep cracking away at it one day at a time. My goal today is to go on a walk after work. I can do it, even if I don't feel like it.

215 this morning. eating too much, and too much salt yesterday. but despite the ugly number on the scale, I did wake up this morning and walked 4 miles. Now if I could only eat well today, hopefully will be on my way back down.

I could lie, and say it is unfair, but the scale is up because I have been snacking and eating junk. yesterday:
B = baby belle cheese, 11 kashi crackers, 1/2 an orange
S = another cheese
S = halloween candy
L = lean cuisine chicken, rice, vegetables, the other 1/2 of the orange
S = 2 more pieces of cheese and crackers
S = chips (shared two packages with someone) and drinks
D = chicken stuffed with ham and cheese, picked at potatoes, and vegetables, kaiser roll with butter

L = cafeteria lunch: one corn dog with ketchup and mustard, salad with tomato, cheese, ranch, scoop of canned fruit, milk
D = a bowl of homemade lentil soup, one orange, one slice whole grain bread with 1/2 a small avocado spread on top

no more eating for today, it is 6:30, going to be a rough night, going to the doctor tomorrow and I DREAD going to the doctor, but dwelling on it will just increases my blood pressure

There was a potluck at work today. I over did it, but there are still ways I can be a success today.
