Tired of quick fixes
Hi, I lost 30 lbs a few years ago with No S going from 183 to 153. Then I fell into the old trap of looking for a quick fix to get rid of the rest of my weight (another 25-30 lbs). Low- carb, primal, intermittent fasting.
So now I'm 48 and still 153! Just enough already! I am starting back today on vanilla No S. I know it works. If I had stayed with it instead of looking for a quick fix, I would be at my correct weight by now!
I am very compliant (obsessed?) with exercise. Walking my dogs every day and basic calisthenics, so it's all down to food and craziness.
What's most important, is controlling my binge eating tendencies. On IF, I'd go all day without eating and then go completely nuts by supper. I just can't face my own disordered eating anymore.
If I don't lose another pound, at least I'll be sane. Please wish me well and thanks for all the inspirational posts!

there is no quick fix. that is the secret that diets dont' want you to know. it is a lifetime of moderate eating which is what NoS is all about. there are times i am tempted to go back to some of the old diets i tried but i know it will not be successful because it never has been before.
Current BMI: 22.9. Height: 5'4.5"
Highest BMI: 25.5 in August 2011.
Lowest adult BMI: 20.8 in February 2012.

Lowest adult BMI: 20.8 in February 2012.
Then congrats on maintaining a 20-lb. loss! That's still a 10%+ loss maintained.
Oh, I wish I had a dollar for every time I've read this: "If I had stayed with it instead of looking for a quick fix, I would be at my correct weight by now!" during my 4 years here.

And I meant to add:
But I've noticed that most people have to get exasperated with other approaches before they "surrender" to the one that they feel solves the right problems for them.
So you are right on time.

hi nay nay, congratulations on your weightloss and welcome back
personaly i also did the 1 meal a day for a while, did not like it, felt hungry most of the time, and ate too much at night. also tryed paleo, but it is to expensive and felt a lot of cravings for the "forviden" foods.
in the case of intermitent fasting i belive it can work in conjunction with the no-s diet, but the main focus should be the no-diet not IF. i will explain myself. right now im used to eating 2 meals a day, i dont like eating in the mornings, so i have my meals more less at 3 p, and at 10 pm. in them i eat one dish and 1 or 2 fruits... the dish is mainly of dense food because i only can have 2 of them during the day, not 3 as most people in no-s do.
but i end up eating more less the same and build the same habit than the tradicional no-s diet.
i must say that this adaptation of the no-s diet is more related to my own lifestyle and health than to weightloss (i find i feel better and have a stronger inmune system if i dont eat in the morning)
i also consider the no-s diet a gentle form of intermitent fasting, aftter all you are not eating all the time, giving your body time to rest from eating.
