Dinny's Diary

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Hi! I'm new here. I was googling around (xp) and found this site, and after checking it out a bit, I thought it was really nice so I figured why not. I was gonna begin exercising tomorrow anyway, and I thought that this daily check in thingy was a good idea, so,feeling motivated, let's begin! (tomorrow! heh, it's kinda redundant now since I had a big breakfast xp)

Anyway, wish me luck! Tomorrow is officially day one of the diet ^-^ I'll check-in after work at night.

Hey, 137 pounds sounds pretty good to me. Are you just trying to opt for a healthier lifestyle or do you have a couple to lose and then work on maintaining? Either way, good luck and welcome.

Yeah, I would say all the above. The previous 3 months haven't exactly been a pleasure. The thing is, because of a situation I had at work and personally... let's just say that even I knew I was over eating. Anyways, I gained 15 pounds ( I used to weigh 122 lb or so), and even then I looked a little pudgy, I'm 5'3 so my tummy shows. So, realizing how much weight I gained hurt a little, and even more so when I was saught after by many before, and now, well, not so much, heh. so, I decided to take the control back and get in shape.

Anyways, thank you so much for your reply and welcoming! ^-^

(P.s, I hope I got the metric conversion right XD I used to use lb and feet, but living where I do I had to adapt to the metric sistem.)

:: day 01 ::
***

I was all ready to go to the gym when I was suddenly denied access until the 25th. Needless to say, it blew. Anyways, climbing three flights of stairs twice, walking up a really steep hill, and running to catch the bus will have to do for now, right? xp

Nothing much to report. Being at work really helps keeping my mind focused on other things, so, it wasn't too bad today. My real problem are the weekends x_x;

morning: chocolate milk box, nutrigrain bar, and a Yakult
(I never eat breakfast, so, I think this helped)

afternoon: a juice box and a cheese sandwich.

night: a big bowl of cereal

I was reaching for the Frosted Flakes and then remembered the no sugar rule. These rules are so simple that I forgot them XD During the day I drank a liter of water; I don't like water, I prefer fruit flavoured water, so far so good, I guess. I know today seemed like I exagerated but I don't really have time to eat well, I just used to buy something off the candy machine and be on my way (more than once a day, actually, heh). I'll be saving some monies from now on, I hope!

Starting isn't the problem, staying on track is x_^
