Moxie's Daily Check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Moxie's Daily Check in

Post by Writer110 » Wed Mar 14, 2007 10:49 am

I learned about No S last year but just couldn't get out of the diet mentality to do it. So I went on another plan and of course couldn't stick to it and lost no weight. So I'm back! I'd like to lose about 10 pounds eventually- I realize this might take some time. Better than yo-yoing though! More than anything I just want to get rid of the obsession of food. And the fear that some foods will not only make me fat but kill me immediately (ie wheat & cheese).

I'll be tracking my days here and also my exercise. I do 6 days of short cardio, 7 days of 7 min SS DVD and 2 days of SuperCallanetics DVD.

So here's to my first 21!

3/14 to 4/3

Day 1:

No S: SUCCESS
Exercise: SUCCESS

I had a rather large lunch and I found I really don't feel good when I do that. It makes me feel bloated & I don't like not being hungry in the evening. So I'll keep that in mind.

Had HORRIBLE sugar cravings tonight but didn't give in. Hope I can continue with that. On to Day 2!

Hilary,

How sweet of you to check in! :D I really hope the cravings do go away. I didn't do too well tonight. I'm going to keep checking in but my true NoS days will probably start on Monday.

Ok, so today is my day one. I'm struggling with the diet mentality, wanting to only eat diet foods (of course those vary with whatever diet I'm following!) So as of today I'm sticking to NoS as written and not screw with what I eat. Just stick to the guidelines. I'll be checking in every evening. I just want to get over the food obsession!

Well, so today was no day one. Although I did my morning exercise I didn't do my evening SuperCallan DVD as planned. And I had HORRIBLE sugar cravings in the evening & caved to ice cream.

I think I'm going to have to start with 21 days. I feel overwhelmed with telling myself this will be forever. So tomorrow will hopefully be my day one!
