another new SG tryer outer

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

another new SG tryer outer

Post by Grimmy » Tue May 01, 2007 8:12 am

read your webpage a couple days ago and got excited about shovel gloving! I belong to this overprice absurd yuppie gym in SF and im sick of it. i was down in los osos california visiting my parents yesterday and picked up a sledgehammer at the local hardware store. I started my first SG tonight.

started with the 16 pounder ( im 265 lbs so its a good starting wieght for me ). oh, im 35, and in terrible shape b.t.w.

did 20 shovels right, 20 shovels left. the axechopper same (20,20 ), some milk churns (10), the no name(10,10 ), and added some military press overheads and just some regular bicep curls. ( 10 each right and left ) it was fun. I'm going to work this into a daily in the house routine. its perfect for sitting around, watching the television, and then wanting to do a moderatly engaging workout without changing clothes and all that nonsense.

I'm looking forward to reading about other shovel glovers and sharing my shovling experiences.

thanks shovelglove !

Welcome, Grimmy!

Glad we've saved you from the yuppie gym (though most people usually save themselves after a few weeks... I'd like to see a graph of gym visits over time for most of these establishments).

If you do shovelglove for 14 minutes straight, it's actually VERY engaging.
