elizabeth333 daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

elizabeth333 daily check in

Post by elizabeth333 » Fri Feb 15, 2008 5:05 pm

I've been on the No-S Diet for 12 days now, and so far I've lost 6 lbs. I was doing my daily check in in the general discussion forum until this point,(OOOPS!). It's going well so far. I'd say I most need to work on getting more physical activity.

Failure two N-days in a row now. I think my problem has been skipping breakfast, and leaving too much time between breakfast & lunch. I've been letting myself get so hungry that my ability to resist cheating is gone. Tomorrow is a new day and instead of giving up like I would normally do after a small failure, I plan to continue my No S plan. I'll get through this and I'll learn from it.

a fresh start

Post by elizabeth333 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:45 am

I gave this diet up for a while. I found that when I had my weekend S Days, I couldn't bring myself to get back on the program again on monday. I've been eating salads 3 times a day for the past few weeks, and I've lost a little weight, but not enough to keep torturing myself with lettuce! So I decided to do the no S diet again, but this time I know that a week end off is the end of the diet, so I'm only going to consider REAL special occassions S Days. Also, I have a problem with sweets, and I think getting them out of my regular diet will really help. I'm moving from a rural area to the city this weekend, so I plan on getting out and walking to get where I'm going. I'll update with my progress regularly.

I'm switching my thinking mode from the sprint to the marathon... One foot in front of the other... I'm going to lose the weight!
