Sammies with Luncheon Meat
Hi all!
Question: now that I'm on the No-S diet can I re-introduce the occasional sandwich with lunch meat such as ham or turkey? I know it's high in sodium, and I have long considered it "forbidden". I love a good sandwich of turkey and American cheese with lettuce and tomato on whole wheat and some low-fat mayo--mmmm.
So. . . can I have deli meats again?

Shoot, you can even have a sandwich with regular mayo if you want! I've done that. Next, I may even try to make mayo!
I've pretty much gone back to all full-fat products with just one exception (milk) and that's because I prefer the lower fat variety. Food is really much more satisfying now.

I got the rules, I'm just not used to freedom! Salads are a problem for me because I get sick of 'em quick. But I won't get sick of them when they're not the only things I'm "allowed" to eat!NoelFigart wrote:*grin* Yep.
The rules are:
No Sweets
No Snacks
No Seconds
(Except, sometimes, on days beginning with S).
C'est tout!
Get that habit sorted solidly out before you start micro-decisions about nutrition.
(Yes, my lunches are often still salads, but that's more because I LIKE salads).
Real mayo...yumm! And you're gonna try to MAKE mayo? Interesting!!Shoot, you can even have a sandwich with regular mayo if you want! I've done that. Next, I may even try to make mayo!

I guess my worry is if I don't restrict myself and "micro-manage" my eating, No-S will backfire on me and I'll GAIN weight. Maybe I'm just overthinking things. I tend to do that

Supposedly making mayo is no big deal. I want to see what the difference is between homemade and the "best" in a jar. I already make all of my salad dressings. That could not be easier (and a lot cheaper than buying them, too).
I got the idea a couple of months ago from an entry at slashfood. Since I'm trying to to increase the quality of my food and eliminate the chemicals and additives, I figure "why not?"
Pretty soon I'll probably start baking bread, too!
By the way, as I said in the above post, food is much more satisfying since I've gone back to the full fat foods. I find because it's more satisfying, I eat less of it. It easily becomes "too much."

There will be a few weeks of "diet decompression" or what I like to call Post Traumatic Diet Disorder LOL.
I use full-fat products and don't bat an eyelash, however I strive to not be an idiot and pile it on thick. Although with lunchmeat, typically I use 3 slices. I prefer the low-sodium, preservative free types.
