Pennie's Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Pennie's Check In

Post by PennieK » Tue Apr 15, 2008 1:38 pm

First Day! Just ate breakfast and will soon be off to work. I'm actually glad it's a work day so I won't be sitting around home bored. I tend to eat more on my days off.

Day one went really well. I had one little mishap at work-I'm a cake decorator and I got some new icing so I sampled a little bit. After I went to the gym last night I started getting really hungry but I managed to get through it without eating. PROGRESS!

Today will be harder since I am not working today. I need to find something to keep myself busy.

Day 2

Day two went really well. I stuck to the three meals no snacks. I think my portions were too big but on the other hand that kept me from eating all day. I found the hardest stretch was from lunch to Supper. I did have one "whoops" today. At the store I bought some diet Snapple-or so I thought. Turned out one bottle had 180 calories and I didn't notice untill the second bottle! I'm usually a label Junkie I can't believe I didn't catch it.

Day 3

Another good day. No Sweets or snacks. Last night we went to KFC and Had the buffet- Dumb idea. I did go back a second time but in my defense I had a lot of food left over from both trips. The food was terrible

Day 4

Today was my best day so far. Followed the plan perfectly. Today was free doughnut day at work plus there was CAKE! The doughnuts I usually do pass on (I'm a doughnut snob-I only like one kind) but the cake on the other hand is another story. Cake is probally my one true weakness. Even though I'm around cake all day long I can't resist it- EXCEPT TODAY!
