Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Did very good yesterday. This is the way to go for me. I'm listening to the podcast and I'm trying to put to use all the tools. I am looking forward to the s days this week. I'm going to have something chocolate and mint. I really like seeing all the green marks. Must be the little girl in me, getting all those praises

I'm feeling kind of blue. I haven't lost any weight yet. but I'm not going to give up. I just got me a MP4 player and I'm going to try the talking to myself thing. Maybe I can motivate myself to love myself enough to take care of myself.

Viggie,

I hear you. My attitude is, I'm building a habit right now. Losing will come in time. I'm not gaining and I'm definitely eating less junk than I did before I began the program.

My first week I was piling my three plates a day high. The second week not so much but there were days or meals when I worried about lasting until the next one, and I kind of piled the plate. Same thing today, I had a really big lunch.

So I know that my quantities have been pretty high. But I also know that, more and more often, there are days when I'm having "normal" meals and lasting until the next one. It will have a cumulative effect.

Honestly, I'm pretty glad to have stabilized (I'm not gaining). I know my losses will come. I take great comfort from the member who posts something like, Feb 2007 she was 217 and now she's 185 (I forget the exact numbers). It's not hugely dramatic but it's gradual, consistent loss.

Anyway I think I started around the same time you did, so I wanted to chime in. Hang in there!

Terez
