I first read about No-S in the faculty room during my lunch break in a "Quick & Simple" magazine's mantra of the week. As someone who previously thought that there is NO possible way to lose weight unless you count calories, I now know that the opposite is true. (Thank God, I could only last for about 3 weeks at a time, anyway).

I have since "retired" from calorie-counting and gained SOME peace of mind about food and have come to accept that SLOW progress is better than losing the same 8-9 lbs. eight times during the year.

Now for the statistics: :D

After 35 days of No-S-ing (13 green, 12 yellow, and 10 red) w/ almost no exercise at all (except a slow walk on the treadmill or in the backyard with my mom every now and then), I have lost 3.2 lbs.

Not bad, considering that only 13 days were pretty much on track and the other 22 I had snacks, sweets, and seconds.

My plan: I going to stick with this. If I never lose another pound, at least I will stop agonizing about whether or not I should eat certain foods that will make me go over my 1200 calorie limit for the day AND I will probably maintain my weight (137.6 lbs.) which is no where near totally unhealthy.

Congratulations! That's a very satisfying number -- especially in spite of those red days. Nice to know that there's lots of scope for sane and moderate improvement should you think you need it. Thanks for letting us know!

I had no idea about the "Quick and Simple" pickup... thanks for bringing that to my attention, too.
