Susieokla's Second Try

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Susieokla's Second Try

Post by susieokla » Tue Oct 07, 2008 12:03 am

Well, here I am again to give No S another try. I know the reason that I failed on the first try wasn't the plan, it was me. I was doing really well then there were some things that happened in my personal life that threw everything for a loop and me being me the stress of it all sent me straight to the fridge to binge.

I have only gained back 2 lbs since June when I went off the plan so I guess it hasn't been too bad but I just feel so miserable, especially when I overeat.

So, I started back on No S today! I know I can do this I just have to put my head and my heart into it.

Day 1-Success

Breakfast-Waffle w/Peanut Butter

Lunch-Lean Cuisine Mexican dinner w/chips

Dinner-Dorito Taco Salad

Looking forward to another green day tomorrow.

Breakfast-Waffle w/Peanut Butter

Lunch-Leftover Taco Salad

No Sweets, No Seconds, No Snacks, yeah!

Feel really bad today physically, headache, tired and all over yucky feeling. Hoping tomorrow will feel better so I can go for a walk.

Day 3-Success! :P

Breakfast-Oatmeal

Lunch-Rice w/Vegetables, Chips

Dinner-Salad w/baked chicken strips

I did get really hungry this morning before I had time to eat my oatmeal at work but it sure hit the spot when I did eat it. It's weird feeling hunger pains again but it's a good thing, it means that I am not constantly eating and am allowing my body to tell me when it is hungry and needs food instead of me constantly shoving food in my mouth whether I was hungry or not. I'm looking forward to another day tomorrow. 8)

Keep up the good work!! It sounds like you have pretty good eating habits. I feel the urge to get something just because not because I am hungry. That is the hardest part for me. I have been addicted to sweet tea too and I allow 1 glass with breakfast to avoid the caffeine withdrawls. LOL. I hope that cutting back on that alone with produce some results. Good Luck Tomorrow!!

Day 4-Success! :)

Breakfast-1/2 ham & cheese omelet, hashbrowns, toast

Lunch-Other 1/2 of breakfast

Dinner-Bowl of Cereal

My breakfast was very filling so I didn't eat lunch until 1:30 or so and wasn't really hungry for dinner so just ate a bowl of cereal. Only questionable thing I had today was a little jelly on my toast but I'm still going to count it as a success.

Also walked 1 & 1/4 mile on the treadmill.

A little jelly on toast is a fabulous thing...I'd absolutely consider that a successful day! Now, if you ate the whole JAR of jelly, you might have to re-think it... I'm just kidding...your day was wonderful!

It sounds as if you're doing great!!!

Day 5-Success :P

Whew, my first week back on the plan with all Green!

Breakfast-Cheese Crackers

Lunch-Catfish, shrimp, cole slaw, beans, cornbread

Dinner-Salad w/Popcorn Chicken

I know my breakfast choice wasn't the greatest and it was more like a snack and not breakfast but I was in a hurry. Went out to eat lunch with my hubby, it was alot of food and I got so full, I didn't eat dinner until almost 8:00, I was going to skip but I knew if I did I might have a hard time sleeping because I might be hungry when I went to bed.

I didn't get my exercise in either, definately need to step it up.

Day 6 S Day!

Saturday-Didn't do too bad for an S Day:

Breakfast-Waffle w/syrup & peanut butter

Lunch-Bar-B-Q Sandwich, few chips, 1 slice pumpkin roll

Snack-few more chips

Dinner-leftover catfish & french fries

Took my kids to the Hard Times Festival in town, it's a festival that they have once a year to remember the depression era, lots of cheap food, crafts, quilt show, yard sales, etc. It was pretty neat and the kids enjoyed it, did lots of walking. Then went home and cleaned house the rest of the afternoon getting ready for my Mom to come visit from California. Lots more cleaning to do today......

Day 8-Failed!

Well, here's my first red day. I want to say it's not entirely my fault but I know that it really is. This afternoon my husband called me at work asked if I wanted anything from Sonic, well I was still full from lunch so I told him all I wanted was something to drink, so he comes by my work and has my drink plus a Banana Pudding Blast he got, just for me. Argh. Which I know he was just trying to be nice, but I didn't ask for it but of course I ate it. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, weigh in day at that!

Breakfast-Oatmeal, Banana

Lunch-Toasted Sub Sandwich, fries

Afternoon-Banana Pudding Blast

No Dinner

Day 9-Success! :D

Breakfast-Oatmeal, Banana

Lunch-Chinese food: empress chicken, rice, crabmeat rangoons

Dinner-Bowl of Cereal

Well, after a failure yesterday I was ready to get back on track today. Only weird thing today was my fortune cookie after lunch which I guess would be considered a sweet, not sure? My daughter and I did order only one dinner and we split it so in all I did not eat that much.

And....the best news of the day, it was weigh in day and I lost 5 lbs!! Woo-Hoo!! :P

Day 10-Success?? :?

I had decided earlier this week I would use today as a NWS day since my work was having their annual Bingo this evening and it's a good thing I planned it that way! They provide drinks (can pop), peanuts and candy. I knew there was no way I could sit at the table for 3 hours with a huge bowl filled with chocolate and peanuts and not eat any. So, I did and it was good but I'm glad it's over and I can get back on track tomorrow!

Breakfast-Waffle w/Peanut Butter

Lunch-Salad with chicken

Dinner-Kids meal cheeseburger, fries, lots of chocolate and some peanuts

And the really bad part is I didn't even Bingo, not once, and my hubby didn't either. They did draw my name out of the bowl for a prize, ended up winning a cooker which I already had the exact same one at home so I traded with a lady at the other table for a nice set of huge salt & pepper shakers, lol. We had a good time anways. I ended up bringing some left over candy home, gave the kids 1 thing they can eat tomorrow and put the rest in a ziplock and hid it in the cabinet so it can haunt me until the weekend.

Day 12-Success!!

Breakfast-Bagel stick w/cream cheese

Lunch-Sub Sandwich, Veggie Chips

Dinner-Pizza, potato salad, macaroni salad, green salad

Had a good day food wise today but I took a flu shot at work this morning and man it kicked my butt! I felt fine until around 1:00 then my chest and throat started feeling weird, like my throat was closing up, had to take off work early, by the time I got home I had fever and chills. Went to bed for a bit and feel somewhat better but still feel achy and yucky. I took a flu shot last year and I did just fine, not sure what happened this time. :x

Day 13 & 14-S Days!!

Had a really good weekend, my Mom came in from California for a visit, we went up to Tulsa on Saturday to pick her up at my sister's house, went to a birthday party for my great nephew and to the mall and out to eat with my Mom & daughters, had a blast. Sunday we went to the Fall Festival at a local lake, lots of arts & crafts & food vendors. I didn't do too bad on my eating, was still kind of sick from that flu shot.

Saturday-

Breakfast-Biscuits, Gravy, Sausage
No Lunch
Afternoon-Birthday Cake, Ice Cream
Dinner-Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad

Sunday-
Breakfast-Cold Pizza
Lunch-Corn Dog & some of a Funnel Cake
Snack-Few Mini Candy Bars
No Dinner-Stomach was upset, too much junk food I guess

Day 15-Success!!

Breakfast-Oatmeal
Lunch-Mac & Cheese, Veggie Chips
Dinner-Pork Roast, potatoes, green beans, biscuit

Did good on my eating today, I was starving in between breakfast & lunch. I don't know why but when I eat oatmeal for breakfast I am so hungry a few hours later, it's weird. I need to add a piece of toast or maybe some fruit with it, see if that helps.

Looking forward to another No S Day tomorrow!

Breakfast-Cereal

Lunch-Chicken Club Sandwich, Fries

Dinner-Lasagna, Garlic Bread

My hubby made homemade lasagna, it was yummy. Taking some to work tomorrow for lunch. Only funny thing I had today was 1 bite of my husband's ice cream. I shouldn't have but I am not going to let one bite ruin my day, I didn't order an ice cream for myself which I really wanted to. I also wanted seconds of dinner but I didn't do it. I can tell that my body and my brain is really getting adjusted to this way of living. :P

Susieokla,

Yay You! for passing up the chocolate! My husband and I were watching some shows last night and he was munching ... i don't know if that makes it "harder" to say "no thank you", but I sure feel good when i do!

ENJOY that coconut cream pie this weekend!

Thanks Blue-it was very hard to turn down the chocolate but I made up for it on Saturday, kind of over did it!

Ended up eating the pie for breakfast Saturday morning, it sure was yummy.

Had a dinner after church on Sunday, of course I had to try out everything, I was so stuffed!

Had a really good weekend!

Day 23-Success!! :D :D :D

Breakfast-Oatmeal

Lunch-Subway sandwich, baked chips

Dinner-Stuffed crab, fish, rice, salad, roll

Hubby decided to cook dinner this evening since he got off work early and my Mom is leaving in 2 days, so I guess it was her "going away dinner" It was really good, my plate was pretty full but that is all I ate, I sure wanted more bread & butter but I didn't do it.

I need to step up the exercise I know that would help me so much, not only to lose the weight but feel better. I just can't seem to get motivated, especially with the weather turning colder, makes me just want to snuggle up with a warm blanket and be a couch potato.

Day 24-Success!! :P

Breakfast-Bagel w/Cream Cheese

Lunch-Chicken Tortilla Soup

Dinner-Hot Dog, veggies, rice

Good day today! They had a big birthday party at work today, originally I was not even going to go in the cafeteria while they were doing it but I went ahead and went thinking well I can sit there & just watch. Ended up getting some punch and they gave me a piece of cake as they were passing it out. It sat there in front of me, another lady mentioned that I wasn't eating my cake, I said "oh, I'm still full from lunch" so I took it back to my desk where it sat there with a napkin over it for 30 minutes and finally I got up & threw it in the trash! I won the battle!! :P
