After following NoS since August, I feel like I've really gotten the hang of the whole "moderation" thing, especially when it comes to S days. I've lost some weight, no longer obsess over food, and have generally developed a positive relationship with eating that I didn't have for a very long time.
I feel like now that NoS is firmly entrenched in my lifestyle, it has really begun to affect other areas of my life as well. Take the holidays, for instance--I've really been able to appreciate the smaller things about this time of year, valuing the meaningful over the material, for example. In general, NoS has enabled me to shun excess in all areas of my life, not just food. And it makes the special things and moments more special, because I'm not harried or overstimulated.
Also, now that I'm not constantly thinking about food, how fat I feel, or sticking to a diet, my mind is really freed up to think about other things. Its amazing how much of your thoughts food obsessions can take up, and its a really selfish way to think. Now that I'm not thinking about myself and the way I eat all the time, I've noticed I spend a lot more time thinking about bigger, more important, or more interesting things.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?
