Coffee Question
I looked but didn't see this posted anywhere. I'm sure it IS somewhere, but please forgive me for asking again.
I really am not trying to micromanage my nutrition, because that hasn't worked for me in the past. However, I am undecided on how to proceed with my afternoon coffee. It's not something I do every afternoon, but sometimes I feel low on energy and a midday coffee with milk and sugar hits the spot.
Is this a sweet or snack, do you think? Or is coffee exempt, although I always use real sugar? I don't mound it in. As a matter of fact I usually get it from the Starbucks on the corner and THEY do it. I just order an iced coffee with milk and sugar, so they use the standard 2 sugars. I just don't want to kid myself anywhere. I could use an objective eye.

Re: Coffee Question
I am right now drinking a cup of coffee with a spoonful of sugar and a little bit of half-n-half.
That's how I drink my coffee and I don't sweat it. I'd consider those really sweet coffee drinks sold at the Coffee Chain of Evil a sweet in my book, but they have about 12-16 spoons of sugar in them.
This very issue is discussed in the No-S diet book, actually. Yes, you can put a little sugar in your coffee, tea or oatmeal!
It's funny how we sweat the little bit of sugar we'd add to coffee or tea, but then don't think about how much is added to processed foods. It's the processed food that's the problem, not the cube of sugar in one's coffee.
And if it's okay to have a glass of whole milk between meals (read the book, it's considered okay), I think a little dollop of half-n-half ain't the issue.
Now, if you drink seven or eight cups a day, maybe hidden excess is creeping in, but if you're two or three cup a day type, this isn't an issue.

Thanks.
I hope to be able to buy the book this week or next. I have read everything on the site, and did see the part about coffee (here on the site) but it talked about morning coffee, as in, with breakfast.
I was feeling leery of letting myself have calories between meals, basically. And really want my afternoon cuppa.
And I like my evil coffee chain of death, particulary when they're brewing Pike Place blend.
lol

Your afternoon cuppa has no where near the calories of a glass of milk or juice -- both of which are "legal."

By the way, in terms of the "rules" -- everything is on the home page. While there's plenty of other content in the book, there's no more "rules" than appear on the home page.

(Note to the humor impaired: I'm being goofy. She's right that you can read the webpage and get everything you need. I just wanna see that book succeed and sell well).
