S Days and Mood
I'm wondering if anyone's S Day behavior changes according to mood? Way before I started NoS, I noticed that if I was feeling kind of bummed, lonely, or lethargic, there was a tendency to binge eat. I felt like I had my S Days under control for a while now, but yesterday (my S Days are Friday and Saturday because I usually go out on Friday nights) things got sort of wild. It probably doesn't help that I work from home, so there was ample opportunity to snack throughout the day with no one else around to watch. Looking back on it now, I realize I was in a pretty lousy mood from the start yesterday, and I think that might have sort of triggered this binge. Anyone else experience this sort of thing? If so, how did you deal with it?

Yes, to a degree it does. Remember, though, you can't fail on an S day. I think that's an important concept, as it removes the pressure. A day or two of permasnacking isn't going to kill you. Really. It's the fear of it and the guilt that's more likely to do the damage.
It's gray and rainy today, and I hate weather like that. Not only does it suck mood-wise, chilly damp is physically painful to me. Will I eat any comfort food? Why yes, I already have! I got some sushi for brunch. (It's not an S diet wise, but it's definitely an S on my wallet!)
The house is a little cluttered, so I'm going to take care of the bad visual clutter even if I don't clean. I'll probably light some candles, put on some really good classical music and maybe even take a hot, steamy bath with lovely scents. I'm pulling out the good china for meals, and will probably put on my nice kimono to relax so that I can make this gray, icky day a luxurious event rather than something blah to get through. It's a trick I learned in the mental hospital: Pretty loungewear, using the "good china" even if you're having pizza, and making an elegant event of the day just to enjoy it is a great mood enhancer, and doesn't cost any real money, and you're not doing anything that's harming you. In fact, this helps prevent binging, because binging isn't ELEGANT.
I am also self-employed and work mostly from home, so I have deep sympathy for the ease at which you can permasnack without anyone noticing. I put on about 20 pounds when I started my business (between not running to the bus and increased eating opportunities... Goodness! It can be a mess, can't it?). I find being elegantly self-indulgent is great for chasing away blues and loneliness.
