That first one is especially great. "You're fat because you eat too much. There isn't any other reason." In almost every instance (save for probably some medications or a thyroid condition) this is true, but I feel like if anyone ever said this now they'd be labeled as a huge, insensitive jerk. It's too bad, too, because this is probably exactly the kind of tough-love advice people need.

I don't think it actually is helpful advice, though, because it doesn't help people see what "not too much" looks like. And people DO say that now, all the time, usually in pretty rude ways.
