Franksters daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Franksters daily check in

Been doing No S for two weeks now. Been surprisingly easy, considering my parents try to feed me cake every evening. (I'm 38 years old, but I probably always going to be their little boy.)

Anyway, quick roundup of my first two weeks.
Been failing Fridays. A little to easy to start the weekend a little early. Thinking about moving my S-days to Friday and Saturday, as Sunday is quite easy to eat normally. But so far, I have two red Fridays.

Put last Thursday as a special day and ate cake, but just one small piece, as we had a small celebration at work. Maybe a little cheating, but at least I only took one piece, I could earlier eat two or three....

Other than that, everything has been OK. And that's not bad, as I work at a place where chocolate has a tendency to be placed in big bowls only feet away from where I sit. And I LOVE the stuff. Also love Coca Cola, but also easy to cut out during weekdays.

Another positive thing is that as the weekend is there, I eat less chocolate and drink less coke than I used to. So hoping that my weight of 229 pounds distributed over my height of 5'10", will decrease to under 200 pounds by next summer.

Tomorrow's going to be a little difficult, because they sell newly prepared waffles in the canteen at 9AM, but I have a plan: Don't eat one! :)
Starting weight: 229 pounds, BMI: 33.1 (Obese)
Christmas goal: 200 pounds, BMI: 29 (Overweight)
Summer goal: 172 pounds, BMI: 24.9 (Normal) (Not really possible)

Oh well... Failed to do exercise today. But I did work for 13 hours and got a massage, so really not in the mood today.

Diet is OK though. I don't list what I eat, as I see many here do. I don't think my meals are very interesting to others, as they are really not that interesting to me either. But as long as I eat normally, drop the unhealthy stuff and the weight drops, I'm happy.

Weekend update.

Weight last Sunday: 226 pounds
Weight today: 226 pounds
Result: 0 pounds

BMI last Sunday: 32.78
BMI today: 32.75
Result: -0.03

Fat percent last Sunday: 21.34%
Fat percent today: 21.42%
Result: +0.08

Quite confusing results. Dropped less than half a pound, but at least I didn't increase in weight. BMI went down slightly, while the percentage went up. But don't really care about that one, since it's just a calculation and in no way measured.

Disregarding all the number, the best thing is that I have decreased in size. Lost about an inch around the waist, and very happy with that. And that is really all that I care about, getting smaller.
Starting weight: 229 pounds, BMI: 33.1 (Obese)
Christmas goal: 200 pounds, BMI: 29 (Overweight)
Summer goal: 172 pounds, BMI: 24.9 (Normal) (Not really possible)

Another weekend update.

Weight last Sunday: 226 pounds
Weight today: 224 pounds
Result: -2 pounds

BMI last Sunday: 32.75
BMI today: 32.46
Result: -0.29

Fat percent last Sunday: 21.42%
Fat percent today: 21.61%
Result: +0.19

Mostly good numbers this week, but the fat percent don't make sense. Anyway it's just a calculation based on measuring different parts of my body, so I think I'll just skip that and just concentrate on weight and BMI.

At least for now. When I start putting on tons of muscles, my BMI will rise again. :)
Starting weight: 229 pounds, BMI: 33.1 (Obese)
Christmas goal: 200 pounds, BMI: 29 (Overweight)
Summer goal: 172 pounds, BMI: 24.9 (Normal) (Not really possible)

SitRep

Weight last Sunday: 224 pounds
Weight today: 223 pounds
Result: -1 pounds

BMI last Sunday: 32.46
BMI today: 32.27
Result: -0.19

Skipped the fat percentage now, as it really didn't seem to connect to anything.

Anyway, all numbers are down, so still all is good.
