When you get your calendar for next year

...go through it and mark your S days. I did this back in August when I got my Jewish pocket calendar. It gave me a feeling that now I'm obligated to do No S through September 2011.

Marking S days in your calendar in advance is also helpful for keeping you from declaring it an S day just because you want a snack or sweet today. If S days are something decided on in advance, the thought of taking an impromptu S day just doesn't really come up.

While I'm all for planning ahead, that's waaaaay too much planning for me. There's got to be some spontaneity. I never planned for S days more than a week in advance -- and sometimes that was too long!
