To Weigh or Not to Weigh In

Post by gettheweightoff » Mon Dec 27, 2010 8:42 pm

I have decided to commit to this program and see it through because I have tried everything and nothing has worked for me and I can't live like this any longer, constantly thinking about food and my next snack or drink (usually coffee with cream which is a snack for me).

I know how much I've gained because of the way my clothes fit or should I say don't fit.

I threw out my scale in the summer when I got frustrated with Atkins and fluctuating weights and the scale not moving. I also have a tendancy to get obsessive with it. Admittidly I'm scared to see the # on the scale. I lost 10bls on WW over 3 months and gained it all back and more I'm afraid in one month binge eating. SO ashamed.

On the other hand if I can see progress it might encourage me to keep going because I'm not going to notice my clothes getting looser until at least a 5lb loss.

Do you weigh yourself or just go by your clothes?

Thanks!

This question comes around a lot. Here's a prior discussion you may find useful. :)

I don't weigh myself, either. In fact, I don't own a scale.

KCCC's link even contains some more good links.
As one who has been maintaining a large weight-loss for more than 5 years,
I weigh myself every day, and write it in a little notebook by the scale.
I enter the number into my computer software food journal,
and that program provides a graph for me showing my ups and downs.

The individual number isn't that important, it could vary by 3 or 4 lbs.
What is important is the TREND over time.
Is my weight Trend going up, going down, or bouncing around in the same place?
That Trend lets me know what to do about the calorie density of the food I'm eating.
Anyone who is interested in learning more about this,
can find out by reading the comments inside my Check-in Thread.

Personally, I weigh in every day that I'm near my scales in the morning. I record a weight every Monday on a 3x5 card that I keep in my daytimer to keep track of trends. This seems to work well for me.

I weigh daily and average it once a week. For progress' sake, you might weigh in now and then again in a month, but only if you are complying with the program. Or any variation of the above.
Count plates, not calories. 11 years "during"
Age 71
BMI Jan/10-30.8
1/12-26.8 3/13-24.9 +/- 8-lb. 3 yrs
9/17 22.8 (flux) 3/18 22.2
2 yrs flux 6/20 22
12/20/24 24.1

There is no S better than (mod) Vanilla No S
